The Role

We're Happy Scribe, a 100% bootstrapped and profitable startup based in Barcelona, on a mission to make the internet accessible.

We offer transcription and subtitling services that combine AI with the expertise of language professionals to create a 5-star product. We're working on one of the fundamental problems of this decade: speech-to-text technology.

We're just 23 people at the moment, but growing fast and profitable (€4.8M ARR) and we're building the team thoughtfully and with a lot of care.

About the role

Happy Scribe was born as a B2C company, but when we analysed our revenue we realised that our best customers were coming from B2B. So we to shifted our focus to B2B: in January ‘22 we hired Paulo, our first Business Development Manager, who helped us learn more about our customers and the scale of the opportunity.

At the end of 2021 we hit €3M ARR without anyone working in sales. Now, we want to reach €10M of ARR in the next year and this is where you come in. The French market will play a key role in our growth, so we're looking for someone to join the team and take the lead on it. We've just hit €4.7M ARR without just one person on the sales team. Imagine what this could look like with someone like you on board.

What you'll do

As a Founding Account Executive for the French market at Happy Scribe you will be in charge of building a sales pipeline and all the processes that go with it, focusing on the French market. As one of our early sales employees, this position offers a lot of opportunities depending on how well you perform.

You'll get to:

  • Setting up the sales process and working on customer segmentation
  • Helping us define our pricing strategy.
  • Working 360º on all aspects of the sales cycle: from identifying new opportunities and researching high-end sales targets, to closing deals and building relationships with customers.
  • Building a sales pipeline alongside Paulo (using inbound and outbound leads) and converting your prospects into customers.
  • Building the future sales team at Happy Scribe. As our third hire in the sales team, this position offers a lot of opportunities and room for growth.

What you'll bring

We are looking for exceptional individuals to join our team and believe that they can come from anywhere. Extensive CVs and endless cover letters don't impress us. Driven people that have skin in the game do.

  • 3+ years of experience in B2B (bonus points if this was a SaaS company with product-led growth)
  • You have experience working in an early stage sales team or founding your own company and got your hands dirty setting up a sales process.
  • You're highly empathetic, curious and a great listener. You ask a lot of questions because you really want to get to the root of the problem and you care about solving it.
  • You’re product focused and love problem solving. You know how to listen to your clients and suggest and prioritise product improvements or new features based on their feedback and needs.
  • You're a team player. You know that success is a team effort and have a collaborative approach to achieving sales targets.
  • You have a strong entrepreneurial mindset. You like getting your hands dirty, jumping on cold calls and can creatively think of multi-channel strategies for attracting new clients
  • You are fluent in English and French.
