Peep LajaThe Role
This is a role that is product manager and product designer 2 in 1. It's probably best for a product designer looking to get into product management (but any background will do as long as you have the skills).
We have a part-time product manager right now (sufficient for the growth phase we're in right now) and an outsourced design agency. We want to combine the two.
Job Description
The job will have 2 areas:
Product management and product design. You will lead our product management efforts, coordinate all the work, and work with the development team.
This is a perfect role for a go-getter who has a ton of ideas, loves to iterate and iterate to find the right answer, and can execute super fast.
You can be very creative, have a ton of freedom and all the responsibility you can handle. You will do hands-on work just like in a scrappy bootstrapped startup that we are.
Product management responsibilities
You will be a key influencer in how we drive our product development forward.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the release process and coordinating all of the activities required to bring the product to market.
- Managing dependencies in and across releases to complete release phases and milestones.
- Prioritization of the backlog. Along with the team you determine which ideas should be promoted into features to push the product strategy forward. You will prioritize features by ranking them against the strategic goals of the business.
- Defining the requirements for each feature and the desired user experience. To this end you will work closely with engineering on the technical specifications and ensure that teams have all of the information they need to deliver a complete product to market.
- Managing the product team as well as the outsourced development team (2 devs + QA). Making sure everyone is working on right things, happy and contributing
- Ensuring that user feedback and requests are integrated into their product planning and development processes.
Design responsibilities
Your focus will be on analyzing and improving the user experience. Wynter is a PLG tool, and needs to be as simple and elegant as possible.
You will ensure that these components fit together as a whole and that the overall application is kept simple. You will work closely with the engineering team.
- Owning and improving the user experience inside the Wynter app
- Designing user-facing flows and features (Figma)
- Designing reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
- Running user tests
ABOUT YOU
You love building products, iterating and experimenting, thinking through the whole picture, and optimizing processes.
Key personality traits:
- proactive - never needing to be told what to do, always taking responsibility and showing initiative
- naturally organized, great attention to detail
Requirements:
- 3+ years of product (SaaS) design experience
- You've done product management before, and got scars to show it
- You know all about sprints and agile and kanban
- You have an eye for design, a pro at Figma
- Experience in designing for web components and creating design systems
- Strong experience with rapid prototyping and concept validation
- You know user research: from interviews to user testing
- You're articulate, and can sell ideas
When applying, please provide a link to your design portfolio.
