Job Description
We're looking for a passionate individual to lead, grow, and develop our Engineering team. You will be reporting to the Head of Engineering and working closely closely with our Team Leads and Product Managers to coach, mentor and oversee all aspects of the team’s performance. This includes conducting 1 on 1s, setting project and quarterly goals, and contributing to product strategies from a technical perspective. Working with other managers, you will be identifying, developing, and rolling out process improvements across multiple teams to improve project efficiency and timelines.

You have a strong technical background and are not afraid to get your hands dirty with coding when needed, but you also have a strong desire in helping others grow in their technical career. The team's success is your success.

Your responsibilities:

• Mentor and help Team Leads be successful with their teams
• Conduct regular 1 on 1s, motivate and retain individuals, participate in performance reviews
• Hire and train new talent to continue growing the organization
• Ownership and accountability for the security and uptime metrics of our applications
• Continuous improvement to our stack observability through dashboards, logs, and alerts
• Assessing new technologies and tools to improve developer quality of life
• Working closely and communicating regularly with different stakeholders - Designers and Product Managers - to deliver the right product
• Finding ways to improve project efficiency and timelines
• Taking ownership of group level process inefficiencies, and guiding cross sub-departments in ensuring things are running smoothly
• Providing supervision on complex and high-risk projects. Maintaining daily in-depth awareness of projects and technical issues. Removing roadblocks and working through solutions with the management team

Qualifications
We are looking for an Engineering Manager who has a proven record in building a team, both culturally and technically:

• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent education
• 5+ years of experience in software development
• 3+ years experience in a manager role or leading a team with direct reports
• Experienced in building high-volume, highly available, scalable backend services and web applications
• Experienced with Agile methodology, modern DevOps practices, and security best practices
• In-depth and excellent working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Redis, AWS Services
• Demonstrates exceptional empathy, interpersonal and communication skills
• Committed role model for peers and direct reports, often leading by example
• Proven track record in building and scaling high performing teams
• Thrives in working in a fast-paced continuous delivery environment
• Highly self-motivated, detailed-oriented, and passionate about building world-class software
