Technical Lead

We are an exciting start up focusing on Tech in the Airline industry. Currently in our initiation phase, we are fast paced, innovative and transforming every single day. We build SaaS solutions to enable airlines to retail in a way their customers have come to expect from leading retailers.

The airline retailing experience is broken, and has been for a very long time. Customers need to browse and shop in the way airlines have offered their products for 60 years. Unfortunately for airlines, customer expectations have changed a lot in the last half century. Mobile shopping, conversational commerce, recommendations, and social reviews - along with instantaneous offers presented to consumers the way they prefer - is the expected experience today.

We are looking for a Software Engineering Lead to join our small, but evolving team here at Kyte. This is a critical role, where you will bring your technical expertise and personal and inspiring leadership. You will be hands on in designing and building solutions while leading and mentoring a team of like minded, passionate, and creative engineers. Kyte believes in small independent engineering teams so the lead engineer has a direct and meaningful impact on the product and deliverables.

About the role

The software engineering lead is responsible for building and leading a high quality, high performance team of engineers focused on delivering exceptional, industry impacting products. Specific responsibilities include:

Work with management and recruiting to hire and onboard team members to build an exceptional team.
Work collaboratively with the CTO and other technical leads to develop the technology and engineering strategy for the company.
Lead a multidisciplinary team, including engineering, technical product analysts, QA and devops to consistently deliver high quality, high performance, products.

*Ideally you will be based in Bucharest but we will also consider remote working across Romania.

Key Responsibilities

Good grasp and practical experience of using OOP concepts, design patterns, unit testing
Knowledge and experience working with Java (Spring), Javascript (NodeJS), Jaeger (or similar OpenTracing).
Experience with both SQL and non-relational databases (Elastic Search, Kibana is a plus)
Experience working with AWS/Kubernetes deployments
Experience with Git
Familiar with Agile methodologies
Kotlin and Spring Webflux is a plus
Lightweight, scalable, highly available solutions that operate with partners and customers around the globe
Comfortable dealing with the level of uncertainty that comes with working in an early stage business
Exceptional leader in inspiring, mentoring and motivating their team
Self starter and able to work autonomously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Kyte is a London based company. Founded in early 2020, we are a highly motivated team driven by a passion for making the difference in the airline industry. We work really hard but will always enjoy a laugh and promote an environment where everyone can be open and transparent about anything. We are currently remote first due to the pandemic and will continue to have a high level of flexibility post crisis, with potential occasional travel into an office or to connect with other members of the team.
