Must be eligible to work in Canada
Must be willing to work in PST timezone, ideally reside in BC and willing to come into the office occasionally
Must speak English fluently

We’re looking for an organized and methodical person to join the AVA Family. The Full Stack App Developer will own the technical execution of our iOS and Android Apps, which could encompass: bug fixes, maintenance, architecture development, product roadmaps, and new feature releases.

You should have an intuition for organizing work in an efficient manner, prioritizing tasks, and implementing UI/UX frameworks.

Your mission is to help us maximize our App Net Promoter Score (NPS) by maintaining and optimizing our apps. Your role will be pivotal to help AVA grow the smart garden category as the only countertop garden to offer a IoT app experience.

Key Responsibilities

Fix and maintain current mobile app
Architect and develop new flows and features for our React-Native app.
Build robust UI which work well on different screen densities and interactions that result in a delightful investing experience
Participate in product roadmap discussions, ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX or Frameworks.
Dedicatedly maintain and improve the codebase of the app and product with scheduled releases of new features
Obsessively test, optimize and improve app stability and performance
Develop and update Voice Skills for Amazon Alexa and Google Home/Nest/Hub

Flexible Location and Office Hours
We are very flexible with working arrangements (work from home, report on Slack, video stand-up meetings).
Training Budget
For all staff, we provide DISC assessments and communication training through a third party.
In addition to team training, events, and workshops, depending on the candidate and working arrangement, we can provide up to $4,000 CAD for skills training.

Must have experience with:
A Bachelor's degree, or education and training normally associated with a Bachelor's degree, in Computer Science or related field
5+ years experience building apps with Javascript
Expert-level knowledge in React Native. You have built React Native Apps before.
Expert-level knowledge in React.js.
Expert-level knowledge in Node.js (Express.js)
Knowledgeable in Redux and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Knowledgeable in SQL: MySQL, Postgres, etc
Experience with AWS environment(Amazon Web Services - EC2, S3, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk)
Some knowledge in iOS SDK and Android
Experience with MQTT is a plus
Experience with voice skills (Amazon Alexa and Google Home) integration is a plus
Experience with code reviews is a plus
REST API Development, Management, and Monitoring Experience
Shopify API experience is a plus

Nice to have experience:
Background in Consumer hardware products
