The Role

OnePointOne (OPO) is developing the world's most advanced indoor plant production facility. We seek to develop and deploy a global network of industrial-scale automated indoor farms, giving OPO the unique ability to support and augment much of the world's plant production in a wide variety of industries. With an incredible team operating at the nexus of plant science, automation, data science and brainpower, a new form of agriculture is being born at OnePointOne.

We are seeking a Food/Farm/Environmental Safety Specialist, ideally with aeroponic growing experience. This position supports maintenance of environmental, health & safety compliance for an indoor farm and food processing facility. This role will help implement and administer adherence programs in support of OnePointOne food safety standards and Injury Prevention Programs. This position will be responsible for efforts to ensure site compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements. What You'll Do:
- Act as the primary site contact for health and safety and will collaborate with all employees to proactively identify safety risks and provide solutions
- Support compliance with PRIMUS-GFS and regulatory requirements
- Ensure buildings are in strict accordance with sanitation, fire and safety codes
- Support development of the safety culture in support of overall safety goals and objectives
- Evaluate building systems and make recommendations for repairs and replacements when necessary
- Supervise and manage tool inventory and company vehicles used by maintenance staff
- Track and report facility goals according to key metrics (ex- lost time accidents)
- Track and report progress of safety team activity, area safety audits, and incident investigations
- Be responsible for performing storm water inspections and water sampling, as required
- Lead the Emergency Response Team and participate as an active, fully trained member
- In support of the Facilities Manager and Head Grower, assist with meeting manufacturing plant GFSI compliance requirements and reporting
- Coordinate and oversee outside vendors for various services provided for safety compliance and environmental regulatory requirements
- Supervise direct reports to support manufacturing plant operations in the areas of safety, waste management, recycling, and emergency response
- Be responsible for management of hazardous waste, preparing waste for disposal, tracking of data and manifests, and completing all reports
- Be responsible for site safety inspections, audits, safety equipment checks, and using instruments to collect data and evaluate work areas
- Develop site-specific programs to train supervisors and employees, programs will meet corporate standards and meet regulatory requirements
- Coordinate, schedule, and present all required GFSI training for employees and contractors
- May need to respond to facility emergencies at all hours

What We're Looking For:
- A minimum of 5 years Environmental, Health and Safety experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment
- Certification or course work in occupational safety and environmental related programs is required
- A BS in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is preferred
- Aeroponic growing experience with low and high pressure systems is preferred
- Practical knowledge on the effects of gravitropism, droplet size, growth media, root zone temperature, and irrigation cycles
- Ability to troubleshoot aeroponic system parameters and parts specifications
- Ability to evaluate and optimize production rate
- Experience supervising direct reports and contractors, managing performance to key department goals, and communication to all levels of the organization
- Experience with applicable local and state safety and environmental regulations as well as other applicable Federal regulations
- Demonstrated industry practices knowledge and experience implementing policies and procedures
- Ability to resolve issues quickly in innovative as well as practical ways
- Ability to interact positively with employees while maintaining a customer service approach
- Availability to be on call or work off hours as needed
- A demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail
- Strong problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with local regulatory agencies preferred
- Previous or current First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required (if not First Aid/CPR/AED certified, certification will be completed after hire)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and spend a large portion of each shift walking
