As our HR Generalist / Accounting Clerk, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that all of our hiring, company policies, payroll, benefits, and company financial details are established, enforced, and executed. You’ll have the unique opportunity to build a strong foundation for our company – we’re talking employment, legal, and financial compliance.
Responsibilities
- Set guidelines and oversee compliance. Develop and implement various human resource policies and procedures for all employees.
Assist employees and leadership with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Manage all aspects of benefits administration, including the distribution of employee notices, changes, and policy recommendations.
Be the banker. Manage all aspects of payroll and ensure extreme precision in all calculations.
- Complete onboarding documents, I-9, and new hire paperwork.
- Manage all processes related to employee onboarding and exits.
- Maintain confidential organization information and records.
- Analyze and reconcile internal general ledger accounts and bank statements.
- Create and maintain financial reports. Be ready at any moment to pull data and present financials to leadership.
- Track and record depreciation and reconcile fixed assets.
- Develop process for month-end close procedures, prepare, review, and adjust journal entries, and schedule preparations.
- Be a financial advisor. Utilize your reports to advise leadership, retail, and support teams on financial trends, issues, and risks.
- Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
- Provide support and answers to all financial inquiries. You’ll be the go-to for processing reports, tracking expenses, and forecasting trends.
- Be an effective communicator. Listen, learn, and engage employees and vendors to ensure all of their financial questions are answered.
- Maintain professional and friendly communications. Whether over the phone, over email, or in-person, we want to ensure our customers, vendors, distributors, and partners receive the best, courteous, service possible.
- Be a team player. We’re a small but powerful team. Team support and engagement is expected from all of our employees.
Qualifications
- Highly organized and detailed oriented in nature.
- Punctual work ethic with a “can-do” mentality.
- Skilled with cloud applications and office technology.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax rates and deduction calculations.
- Honesty and integrity are essential. You will play a critical role when it comes to sales transactions and company financials.
- Strong communications skills (written and spoken).
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience as a human resource generalist.
- At least 2 years of experience as an accounting clerk, payroll specialist, bookkeeper, accountant, or similar position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Previous experience with Quickbooks or similar accounting software preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or G Suite.
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles as well as federal and state laws.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
