Analytics Engineer, Operations

About the Role

Analytics Engineers at CookUnity are the people who make data easy to use to power their work. They have the highest level of SQL wizardry in the company. Some analytics engineers have an interest in data infrastructure and integrations, others in bringing their data to life through interactive visualizations but all have the skills to work with unruly raw data, design analytics friendly data products (incl entities and flat tables) and build them to a production standard that the whole company can rely on. We are always on the lookout for analytics engineers with talent and interests in one of these stretch areas!

What you’ll do in 12 months

• Clearly establish and articulate operational data & information needs: Work with the operations teams, product manager and operations teams to clearly define the data they need to execute (vs learning and insights). Convert them into data & reporting specifications. Success will be measured by the number of operational workflows that have clearly documented information requirements (e.g. data specifications, data user journeys if applicable)
• Build data and/or reporting products in the non-analytical environments for the 5 most critical operational workflows: Work other analytics engineers and back end engineers to engineer the data pipelines and build the front end capabilities that the operations folks need to complete their workflows autonomously. Success will be measured by reduction of the number of ad hoc operational requests needed while executing those 5 critical workflows (fewer the better, ideally 0!) and the number of operations teams have the data and information they need to complete their execution workflows within the product or enterprise technology that facilitates the rest of their execution.
• Reduce the analytics engineering Tech Debt relating to operations: Work with Analytics Engineers to deprecate all the old dashboards, queries and sheets that used to satisfy the needs above!
