Job Description for Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with Startup and Fundraising Experience - Hands on role!

Position Overview:
We are an exciting startup poised for significant growth, seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with specific experience in startup environments and expertise in pre-seed and seed fundraising. Joining our core team of a Founder/CEO, CTO/Lead Developer, and Product Project Manager, the CFO will be instrumental in shaping our financial strategy, securing funding, and managing our financial operations to steer our company through its next phase of development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Startup Financial Strategy:

   • Craft and execute a financial strategy tailored to the unique needs and dynamics of our startup.
   • Manage financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial planning, with an agile approach suitable for a startup.

2. Fundraising Expertise:

   • Lead pre-seed and seed fundraising efforts, leveraging extensive experience and networks in the startup investment community.
   • Engage with venture capitalists, angel investors, and other potential funding sources to secure the capital necessary for our growth and scaling.

3. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

   • Conduct thorough financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
   • Develop and maintain reliable financial reports, ensuring transparency and accuracy for internal stakeholders and external investors.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

   • Ensure adherence to financial laws and regulations, maintaining the highest standards of compliance and integrity.
   • Implement robust risk management policies and procedures.

5. Leadership and Team Development:

   • Collaborate closely with the executive team to align financial management with overall business strategies.
   • Build and mentor a finance team that aligns with our startup culture, emphasizing innovation, agility, and collaborative work ethics.

6. Operational and Strategic Planning:

   • Align financial strategy with operational goals, working alongside different departments to ensure cohesive progress.
   • Provide insightful input into strategic planning sessions with the executive team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; CPA or MBA is highly desirable.
• Proven experience as a CFO in a startup environment, with a successful track record in pre-seed and seed fundraising.
• Strong understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a strategic mindset.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Strong leadership qualities and experience in team building and development.
