Polychrome is a holding company that acquires, grows, and holds a portfolio of B2B software companies. Since launching in 2020, we have added three companies to our portfolio (Flagsmith, Browserless and Checkbox) and plan to add one to two a year for the foreseeable future. This is a ground floor opportunity as the first accountant, and the first of a set of specialized skill positions that Polychrome plans to provide to its portfolio companies as a centralized service.
The Staff Accountant will report directly to one of our co-founders of Polychrome. They will assist in the accounting for each portfolio company, as well as for Polychrome itself. This will encompass a wide range of accounting responsibilities and is suited for a high-performer with a focus on detail and ability to get things done cleanly, on time, and reliably. This role offers opportunity for growth as the portfolio expands and as each company within the portfolio grows.
Responsibilities:
- Perform accounting related activities for each portfolio company and Polychrome itself
- Support month and year end closing processes
- Prepare entries to the companies’ general ledger and maintain accounting sub-ledgers by verifying and properly posting account transactions
- Prepare accruals, maintain schedules, including fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules
- Bank and account reconciliations
- Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
- Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & collections
- Work with our external tax firm to support filing taxes on time and accurately
- Support the development of the company’s accounting policies and procedures including making the accounting process more efficient
- Respond to inquiries from leadership and company managers
- Perform other accounting related functions as appropriate
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 2 year of experience in general accounting
- Expert with Quickbooks
- Expert in Excel
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Understanding of financial statements and reporting
- High personal standards for work quality and attention to detail
- Ability to operate independently and meet timelines
- High credibility and ethical conduct
