Credit Officers are responsible for conducting loss mitigation and recovery efforts with regard to a company's delinquent or charged-off accounts. A credit officer ensures payments are made, and chases up any that become overdue. The job is to closely monitor the aging of payment receivables and ensure that receivables are monetized.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Analyse financial data regarding loan requests for new, renewal and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus, other financial institutions and financial institution files.
2) Prepares spread sheets, reports, summaries and opinions for financial institutions officers on new, renewal and existing loans.
3) Works with examiners and third-party vendors.
4) Recommendations for credit rating
5) Researches background documentation and reviews personal and business financial statements and tax returns. Analyses financial information and prepares the preliminary analysis for the lender.
6) Ability to interpret tax returns, public and private corporation’s financial statements and input financial data into computer generated spread model.
7) Track and review interim and annual financial information on existing customers.
8) Consult and work in tandem with Loan Officers in gathering appropriate documentation to resolve credit quality issues.
9) Recommend and monitor borrower adherence to loan covenants.
10) Prepare and track risk management reports, commercial loan portfolio concentration reports, real estate appraisal evaluations, and audit portfolio administration.
11) Maintains the privacy of customer information and the security of all records
KEY SKILLS:
1) Degree in business, finance or related field.
2) 3-5 years or more of experience in loan department or similar financial position.
3) Excellent financial analytical skills with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
4) Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
5) Extensive knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures.
6) Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with limited supervision, and be a self-starter.
7) Must possess excellent organizational skills.
8) Ability to react to stressful situations with professionalism while remaining calm.
) Must be tolerant of all personality types of clients, customers, employees, vendors and others.
