Emily WilcockThe Role
CoMind is a Neurotechnology start-up focused on delivering non-invasive brain-computer interfaces. We have assembled a world-class team of experts across Neuroscience, Physics and Engineering with the collective mission of building tools to understand and solve the human brain. CoMind’s state of the art proprietary technology will enable scientists and engineers the ability to interface with the brain in ways currently not possible. We believe that this will be the catalyst for a new wave of neuroscience research and enable applied neurotechnology applications to be deployed at scale. CoMind is backed by leading investors such as Octopus Ventures, LocalGlobe, Crane Venture Partners, RT Ventures and BackedVC, alongside several high profile angel investors.
We are looking for a Senior High-Speed Electronics Engineer who has extensive experience in large-scale, complex FPGA-based digital design. You will be part of a growing multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists pushing the current brain imaging technology to the next level.
This role will offer the candidate a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge and experience in high-speed electronics design to develop sophisticated electronics solutions for a novel state-of-the-art brain-computer interface apparatus. You should have a comprehensive understanding of high-speed electronics design, strong theoretical background, and hands-on experience in bring-up of highly complex PCBAs.
We are looking for creative thinkers, who work well in a team, who welcome new challenges and solve problems with a fresh and unique perspective. You should have a comprehensive understanding of electronics hardware development and a proven track record of successful development of mixed-signal designs from concept, through design and simulation, up to system integration, and supporting product level certification testing. You should effectively communicate your ideas to engineers and scientists of different specialities to help them transform concepts into working prototypes. You should have an entrepreneurial mindset and a very strong work ethic. You are a fast learner and adaptable to different problems even if you don’t have as much experience in that area.
YOU SHOULD APPLY IF YOU HAVE:
- Excellent theoretical background in high-speed electronics design and relevant signal and power integrity considerations
- Experience in detailed design, multilayer (preferably 16 or more) PCB layout and analysis of complex systems consisting of state-of-the-art electronics e.g. high-speed ADCs, clocking solutions, power solutions, FPGAs, memory modules (DDR/QDR/HBM), high-speed external interfaces e.g. PCIe, Ethernet, USB
- Extensive experience in using one or more of the industry standard EDA tools (Altium, Xpedition DxDesigner, Cadence etc.) for schematic capture, PCB layout and analysis of highly complex electronics systems
- Excellent theoretical and practical understanding of best design practices for high-speed PCB layouts in order to maximise performance and meet EMC requirements
- Experience in using simulation tools e.g. Spice, AWR, and state-of-the-art test and measurement equipment for circuit bring-up, testing, debug, and characterisation
- Experience in utilising FPGAs (Xilinx Ultrascale+/MPSoCs, Intel Stratix/Arria) and microcontrollers (e.g. AVR, STM32, MSP430)
- Experience in Design for EMC, ESD and UL compliance (medical device standards preferrable)
- Experience in Design for Test and Manufacture, and mechanical integration
- Experience with noise analysis, and analogue and digital circuit shielding
- Proven track record of developing electronic circuits for full lifecycle development from concepts to product certification
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
