The Role

Brightspark is hiring a Marketing Operations manager based out of our Montreal office. Join a dynamic team leading the charge in developing and supporting Brightspark’s innovative models of Venture Capital investing in Canada.

About Brightspark and this role

Brightspark is a well established Venture Capital firm based in Canada with offices in Montreal and Toronto: we have been investing in exceptional Canadian early-stage tech companies since 1999. We are backed by leading financial institutions, and have invested in some of Canada’s exceptional entrepreneurs that are building companies such as Hopper, Vetster, Potloc and Martian Farms.

In addition to “traditional” VC funds, we have leveraged technology to redefine the future of venture capital funding/investing. We have built innovative models for private investors to invest alongside Brightspark in diversified funds and on a company-by-company basis.

You will help manage the operations and marketing aspects of Brightspark’s investment process. This includes communications with existing and new investors, ownership of marketing initiatives, as well as supporting next generation and interactive investor relations.

In this role, you will also support the firm’s marketing and operations initiatives such as annual general meetings, quarterly newsletters, portfolio reporting, and other operational projects.

Why you’ll love this role

Create massive impact
Brightspark’s mission is to invest in Canada’s best tech companies and maintain its leading position in the early stage Venture Capital ecosystem. You will help grow a brand that is trusted by more than 5,000 Canadian tech investors, leading Canadian institutions, and best-in-class early-stage tech companies.

Responsibilities and ownership
In this role, you’ll own a broad portfolio of initiatives and will be a key member of a lean team – you will see the concrete impact of your work every day.

An insider look at the world of venture capital
This is a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of venture capital and startups. You will learn from veterans of the industry, and work alongside some of Canada’s most exciting early-stage companies.

An unparalleled culture with great work conditions
Join a strong culture of innovation, trial and error, trust and mentorship. Everyone at Brightspark is given ownership of projects, with a meaningful opportunity to grow and shine.

We offer top of the line health benefits, incentive plans including a carry pool, allocations for professional growth, fitness, cell phone and internet; as well as a flexible work-from-home schedule, fun team offsites, and overall work-life balance.

Responsibilities

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring the smooth marketing operations of the firm. You will manage communications with our existing network of 5,000+ investors, and support them with content and updates on their investments. You will work alongside our Investment team to market new investment opportunities via email, create supporting assets such as videos and webinars, and populate content on our website and proprietary online investor platform.

  • The execution of marketing campaigns that will build awareness of Brightspark’s presence in the market - leveraging channels and tactics including email, events, content and partnerships.

  • The management of initiatives such as our Annual General Meeting, quarterly newsletters and reporting, news monitoring, and social media management.

  • You will also work closely alongside our Investor Relations, Finance and Investment teams to support them with various operational initiatives.

Requirements

The following are a must-haves:

Experience
You have 2+ years experience working in a marketing and/or operational role. You have a successful history in executing marketing programs with strengths in copywriting and email marketing, and/or supporting a firm in their day-to-day operations.

Fully bilingual (French, English), with strong copywriting skills
You are a persuasive writer who can communicate complex ideas with simplicity in both English and French. You can adapt your tone to the needs of our niche audience, while staying on-brand. You are detail-oriented, and your work is typo-free.

Independent and resourceful
You are energized by the responsibility of owning a broad portfolio of projects. You are a creative problem-solver, you can effectively navigate ambiguity, and are not afraid to take on new challenges.

We consider this as asset:

  • Experience working in financial services and/or VC
  • Experience marketing to high-net-worth individuals
  • A genuine interest in venture capital, technology, and/or fintech
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
