Head of Engineering / Chief Technology Officer

Aghaz (https://aghazinvest.com) is a way for Muslims and Values-based customers to Plan, Save and Invest for their goals, according to their beliefs. We are registered as an investment advisor with the SEC. We are on a mission to improve financial literacy and provide automated and modern solutions for underserved communities in alignment with their values.

Aghaz launched in mid-2021 and has several thousand customers already. We are now recruiting roles across Investment Analysis, Marketing, and Software Development.

We are looking for a head of engineering or Chief Technology Officer for Aghaz. You are a seasoned technical leader with a diverse background in software development. You are passionate about FinTech in general and investments in particular. You love learning about and connecting with a broad and diverse customer set. You are self-motivated and passionate about customers. You like working and collaborating in teams but can operate effectively with minimal supervision. You are curious; you seek to improve customer experience and don’t settle. You have solid written and verbal communication skills. You like solving complex problems through efficient software.

You will be one of the senior leaders of our seed-stage FinTech startup and work directly with the CEO, Product and development teams. You have 5 or more years of academic or professional experience in designing and developing software architecture of a complex application that consists of a web component, application front-end, backend, cloud infrastructure.

Specific technical skillsets required are React and Node.js; Python experience is highly preferred. Experience with managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure (AWS) is required. Previous technical or development experience in Investments or FinTech in general is highly preferred.
