Brian BoltonThe Role
Position Overview:
Emit is seeking a versatile individual to fill a blended role for the production of Cryo-fluorescence Tomography (CFT) systems. This position will be primarily responsible for electro-mechanical assembly and supporting functions of purchasing, inventory management and logistics. This role requires technical proficiency with manual electro-mechanical assembly of vision systems, motorized axes, control electronics, and cabling. The Production Engineer is not expected to be an expert in each of these areas, however, this person must possess, or be able to acquire quickly, enough knowledge of these areas such that he/she is able to effectively manage and guide specialty contractors for efforts that are beyond their experience and integrate their efforts into the overall order fulfillment system.
Who We Are:
Emit Imaging is a leading manufacturer of Cryo-fluorescent Tomography (CFT) systems for the global bioresearch market. Founded in 2018 on the concept that three-dimensional fluorescent based high-resolution capabilities are essential to researchers in molecular imaging, studying biodistribution, developing genetic models and molecular probes. Emit Imaging’s suite of software and instrumentation provides the most competitive product suite for this market. Our organization is driven to continuously support and develop leading-edge, upgradeable technology to best meet our customers’ needs - - and to help develop new applications to increase the use and scientific application of our tools. We have installed systems in North America and our headquarters are in Baltimore, Maryland.
Who You Are:
You are best described as a jack of all trades, but master of none with cross-functional experience spanning all elements of order fulfillment. Unafraid to get your hands dirty, you see the value in balancing your time behind a desk and on the factory floor. You recognize that the only constant in life is change, so you embrace it and embody adaptability. You are a builder and a creator of that which does not yet exist who enjoys the journey as much as, if not more than, the destination. As an energetic self-starter with a strong intellectual curiosity, you thrive in work environments that offer a high degree of autonomy and constant opportunities to learn and develop new skills. Your strong work ethic shines through, but you know how to laugh and have a good time too. Additionally, you will possess most, if not all, of the following training and experience:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field from an ABET accredited university and 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment OR 12+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 4+ years in a supervisory role with small teams (< 10 people).
- Broad experience creating and improving business processes in the areas of procurement, inventory management, production, and logistics.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust processes, factory layouts, workstation designs, etc. to support changing demand and product requirements.
- Familiarity with Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficient with enterprise IT platforms such as ERP, CRM, and BI/BA tools.
- Significant experience coordinating design and fabrication activity with vendors and contractors.
What You’ll Do:
- Define, document and improve the efficiency of all order fulfillment processes.
- Design and setup manufacturing workstations and cells capable of satisfying forecasted demand.
- Ensure that inventory levels are sufficient to support all product development, sales and service activity.
- Establish, track and report on operational KPIs.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of assembly instructions.
- Assemble, test, debug, pack, and ship Emit Imaging’s products.
- Identify and qualify vendors for custom and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) parts.
- Assemble prototypes and execute test protocols.
- Lead transfer to production activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Benefits & Perks
Emit Imaging offers competitive compensation including salary, bonus and stock options along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, short & long-term disability insurance plus 401k with matching.
Emit Imaging offers flexible work schedules, remote work, and flexible PTO, because we care about getting our work done and meeting our commitments to our customers and to each other, not how many hours each of us spends in the office. That said, some meetings are ineffective when held virtually and you can’t take the factory home with you, so there will be times when your presence on site is mandatory. Emit Imaging also recognizes 8 federal holidays and shuts down for the last week of the year.
Physical Demands
This position will require the individual to engage in significant physical activity including, but not limited to, standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods of time, manipulation of hand and power tools, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs in weight.
