Entomology Associate

ExtraSense is an early stage technology company based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts using Artificial Intelligence to identify pest via a mobile device. We are getting ready to launch our Beta and searching for an Undergraduate or Graduate Student in entomology to undertake a short-term, paid project which involves taking photos of preserved insect samples using various devices through a phone application our company has developed. This may turn into a longer-term project, depending on business needs.

Ideal candidate will be very self-motivated and:

• Be an undergraduate or graduate student in entomology (or other scientific discipline with biology lab experience. Focus on urban entomology a pluss)
• Have lab experience with pest insects (preferred but not required)
• Have lab experience on the undergraduate or graduate level
• Have ability to follow lab procedures
• Proficient with photo taking using iPhone and Android devices
• Be interested in technology
• Have ability to travel to company office near Porter and Davis Square, Cambridge, MA

Lab work will be performed in our office near Porter and Davis Square, Cambridge, MA. Company will have a COVID-19 procedure that will require mask use, and will minimize contact with other employees.

Schedule is flexible; work may be performed any time during normal business hours. Estimated start date is the week of March 8, 2021 (may be adjusted).

Candidate will be required to sign a Nondisclosure Agreement, as well as an Independent Contractor Agreement upon acceptance.
