The Role

PatientPing is a Boston-based care collaboration platform that reduces the cost of healthcare and improves patient outcomes by seamlessly connecting providers to coordinate patient care. The platform enables providers to collaborate on shared patients through a comprehensive suite of solutions and allows provider organizations, health plans, governments, individuals and the organizations supporting them to leverage this real-time data to reach their shared goals of improving the efficiency of our healthcare system.

Job Description
Are you searching for a chance to be an innovator somewhere where you can make a real difference? Do you have the ability to take complex user needs and turn them into easily-understood interactions that work seamlessly within a larger system?

As the leader of the Product Design team, you will lead a team of designers working closely with our engineers, product managers, and operations managers to concept, design, prototype, test, and iterate on solutions that meaningfully connect providers to seamlessly coordinate patient experiences. We’re looking for a generalist who thrives in ambiguity, deeply understands and can champion our users, and design solutions that are equally thoughtful and elegant. You will work with the product and client-facing teams to identify gaps and opportunities in user experience.

What You Will Do
• Provide direction and leadership to a team of experienced and accomplished product designers and advocate for the voice of the user throughout the PatientPing product platform.
• Work cross-functionally to facilitate design-thinking in identifying product and market gaps and opportunities, then help us drive through design explorations quickly to test them out. As we find ideas that resonate with users, work to bring those opportunities from low-fidelity concepts to final implementable designs that will ship to our end-users.
• Define a UX vision to drive forward design processes and enable the R&D team to move faster (e.g. identifying UX debt, creating a design system that unifies the user experience across our current and future products, etc.).
• Explore and innovate around the succinct display of rich and complex data, to drive business value.
• Understand the interplay between user needs, data, business goals, and clinical workflow insight, and use this to drive delivery of outstanding product design.
• Interface with leadership, stakeholders, developers and users to articulate the value of UX with a high degree of authenticity and discipline.

What Success Looks Like:
In 3 months...
• Demonstration of strong collaboration, particularly with product and engineering partners
• Creation of a product design roadmap informed by product strategy
• Demonstration of deep understanding of our products and users

In 6 months...
• Successful delivery of multiple UX projects by the product design team, including discovery and user research phases
• Actively contribute to shared UX components
• Demonstration of strong analytical and advanced problem-solving skills
• Regular communication of design ideas and accomplishments to the company

In 12 months...
• Consistent and strong history of successful judgment calls
• Growth and engagement of the product design team
• Effective collaboration outside of the individual team and across the company

What You Need:
• 7+ years experience as a product/experience designer, including the delivery of several substantial projects from start to finish. It’s important that you’ve been a part of an in-house product team.
• 2+ years of management experience as a design leader.
• Proven experience in iterative product design planning and development
• Proven experience with user research and user research processes.
• Proven experience with complex systems and workflows, and in particular a willingness to help balance user needs, business goals, and workflow insights. Understanding both the customer and user needs, and how to design in those contexts, is also key.
• Able to run the gamut of design activities, including a comfort with low-fidelity prototypes to facilitate quick feedback, all the way up to production-ready designs, and the wisdom to know when to use which approach.
• Ability to incorporate data & user feedback, along with product & design instincts, to craft outstanding experiences.

What Would Be A Plus:
• A demonstrated interest in healthcare, and/or specific experience designing for healthcare providers. Much of what we do involves making simple a fairly complex and specific problem area -- if you’re already familiar with the players and issues it’ll be a great accelerant.
• Experience in an enterprise B2B SaaS setting
• If applicable, please provide an online portfolio demonstrating selections of your professional work.

What You Get:
• Join one of the fastest growing health tech companies in the country
• Have the autonomy to build something with a brilliant and enthusiastically supportive team
• Learn best practices from world class investors and advisors
• Become an expert on healthcare delivery system transformation
• Receive cash and equity compensation with health, dental, and other benefits**
