Job Responsibilities
We’re looking for a hands-on, problem-solving, self-starter, and teamwork-oriented person to join the AVA Family. This role will be integral to pushing new innovations from the hardware team to our customers. You should be open-minded, naturally curious, love to solve problems proactively, be willing to grow into new roles, and be comfortable in the startup environment. You should value efficiency, honesty, integrity, and persistence. If you love designing new products, have a knack for prototyping, and are proficient in CAD, we’re looking for you! Your key roles will be within the Hardware Team, with the ability to grow into a VP Engineering role.
Key Projects
- Cost Reduction
Hardware Innovation Strategy
- Product Roadmap Creation: working with our CTO and CPO on creating a robust production innovation roadmap and clearly defined product requirement documentation
Hardware Product & Project Management
- Risk Planning: feasibility studies, quality assurance plan, risk management plan, status reports
- Check-in With External Vendors: Weekly check-ins, and compile project status update for management to view
- Coordinating & Scheduling File Release: Identify what items we need, when we need it, and scope of work

- For all staff, we provide DISC assessments and communication training through a third party. In addition to team training, events, and workshops, depending on the candidate and working arrangement, we can provide up to $4,000 CAD for skills training.

- 3+ years of prototyping and/or production experience
- Bachelor degree in engineering
Must-Have Experience With:
- Ability to read and create schematic circuit diagrams; familiar with Altium or Eagle CAD or equivalent.
- Ability to create printed wiring boards (PCB) with design for high yield manufacturing
- Understanding and experience in designing PCBs for abatement of ESD, EMI and RFI.
- Strong understanding in microcontrollers; ESP32 or STMicro prefered.
- Strong experience in digital and analog circuit design
- Understanding in the integration of wireless chipsets; WiFi, Bluetooth
- Hands on soldering and circuit rework skills
- Hands on experience with test equipment
- Comfortable writing C and/or Python test scripts
Great but Not Necessary to Have Experience With:
- Slack, Asana, Google Suite
