Stilt is a Y Combinator backed (W16) financial services company focused on immigrants. We use proprietary and public data sources to predict creditworthiness of immigrants with limited or zero credit history.
We are backed by fintech investors including Y Combinator, Hillsven Capital, Petrushka investments (early backer of Lending Club, Zillow, Check, Pets.com), and CEOs of billion-dollar fintech companies. We are at an inflection point in the company's journey and looking for someone to lead and scale our content marketing efforts.
The role at a high level:
The biggest acquisition channel for Stilt today is SEO (content marketing). The role is to scale this highly impactful and important channel. You will take the lead the team to create and manage all types of content. One key aspect of the role will be to develop a unique brand voice for the company. We expect you to be a deep expert on content and know all the nitty-gritty content marketing including keyword research, Google’s constant SEO updates, backlinking (with partners and media), and publication calendars.
This role provides a rare opportunity to build a defining brand for immigrants and the underserved. It will be challenging and rewarding to scale content as we launch new products and target new markets. You will be running the most important and highest leverage growth function in the company. It is an exciting role for someone whole is up for the challenge of scaling content for a mission-driven company.
Who will I work with?
You will closely work with the CEO, CTO, Head of Paid Marketing, and Head of Credit Risk.
You will:
- Develop and execute content strategy that drives 10x leads for the core lending business
- Own, manage, and report on KPIs for content marketing execution and performance
- Build editorial calendars, set standards for content quality, and manage a team of in-house and outsourced writers
- Talk to customers (regularly) to learn about their lives and develop messaging that resonates with them
- Define and execute strategy for written, audio, and video content for all channels including email, blog posts, YouTube, and Facebook (it’s not about just blog posts anymore)
- Develop a brand voice to cut through the noise of other financial and immigrant focused content (important to be consistent across all types of content)
- Work with operations, engineering, and credit risk teams to optimize conversions for high lifetime value customers
- Distribute content through paid channels including paid social media and SEM
- Identify new target demographics that could be a fit for our products and develop content/distribution channel to reach them
- Build relationships for content distribution through media websites and other partners
- Work with various content marketing tools such as Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, and SEMRush to find target areas for content
- Lead efforts for building a community of immigrants (and other target demographics) using content marketing
In your background, you have:
- 5+ years experience in content marketing for a fintech company (B2C preferable but B2B also works)
- Scaled content marketing to millions of visitors and driven real value (revenue) to the business
- Become an expert at understanding Google’s algorithms and updates that impact content performance
- Managed editorial calendars and worked with writers to deliver and scale high quality content
- Built relationships with media websites for backlinking and sharing content on their platforms
- Developed the ability to distill customer needs into actionable content strategy
- Used data-driven approach to identify areas of growth and report KPIs
