The Role

We are a technology startup working on an extremely innovative online group communication application with highly impressive growth. We have about 1.5 million users now. We will be happy to discuss the product over a conversation, since our website does not describe the product (which is currently available only through invitation).

The company currently has 15 persons and is run by an IIT/IIM graduate. It feels like family here very soon - we care a lot about our people, and you'll love the freedom and challenge. We'll also pay you well, and, if you stay long enough, offer stock or stock options.

The Job

Our free app enables our clients to build groups of people associated with them, to be able to communicate with them. We are looking for people who will get large groups to use our application for internal communications, by interacting with the relevant people who can create such groups and pitching the product to them - e. g. universities, media houses, politicians, celebrities.

While the primary role is technology sales - pitching an application - we are looking for people who will essentially be the eyes and ears of the company in the market by understanding what the potential clients want, and be part of the product development and analytics teams as well in helping the product evolve to meet those needs.

Thus, people who have worked in product development, software engineering or analytics in the past will also be good fits for this role if they want to experiment with concept sales now to add to their already glittering career.

The job will be an excellent next career step for people who want to see a start-up gain serious traction with a concept product, see the company raise millions in funding (and be part of the process), see it scale from 10 to 100 employees in a year or two, learn the management of heavy load applications, see a small company handle eventual competition from some of the biggest names, and see the company pivot strategically as it learns more about the market - and all of it, up close. In short, this is not just a sales job, it will be a great business school, and you'll be an excellent fit for any general managerial profile 2-3 years into this role.

The Pay

The indicative salary for this position is Rs. 4 - 8 lakhs per annum depending on your experience, and we are open to more, too, if your experience and capabilities warrant it. The job also comes with a stock option plan that can easily outdo your regular salary several times over.

Candidate Description

  1. You should have an excellent academic record and high analytical skills.

  2. You should have good spoken and written English.

  3. Knowledge of Telugu is a plus. Being presentable is also a positive for this job.

  4. The job involves frequent outdoor travel (in Hyderabad).

  5. We would prefer people who can join in 2-3 weeks if made an offer.

  6. A high degree of tech-savviness is a must.

  7. You'll need to be comfortable with talking to complete strangers on a routine basis as you initiate new sales pitches, and with building warm equations with them over time.

An experience of 3 years would be good, more would be welcome. But if you have a great academic record and excellent communication skills, and believe you match most of the description above, you may apply irrespective of your experience.

You can also opt for a temporary (3-6 months) option, though it will be full-time. Highly capable people will also be given an option to work part-time (about 6 hours a day).

This is a full-time job from our office located about 1 km from Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, but highly capable people may be given an option to work part-time (about 6 hours a day).
