As we continue to expand our operations and reach, we are actively seeking an exceptional Accounting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for identifying financial opportunities and challenges within our business model. They should be highly proficient in financial analysis, with a track record of devising strategic solutions to optimize financial performance and ensure compliance with regulations. We are looking for a dynamic teammate who can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and drive sustainable growth.

This position requires either residency in California or the ability to work within Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours. While the option for 100% remote work is available, candidates can also utilize our office in San Francisco if preferred. The selected candidate will report directly to our CFO.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Manage monthly close processes and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Work closely with internal teams to address accounting issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage accounting matters related to employer relationships across multiple states, ensuring compliance with respective state regulations and accounting practices.
• Utilize accounting software platforms such as Bill.com, Ramp, Gusto, Quickbooks, Carta, and Stripe to maintain financial records.
• Provide guidance on technical accounting matters, including GAAP standards, revenue recognition, and stock-based accounting.
• Coordinate with external auditors as needed for financial audits.
• Manage bank accounts and monitor cash flow to support financial decision-making.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and analysis activities.
• Train and mentor junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Is located in California, preferably in the San Francisco Bay Area or can work PST hours.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on accounting experience. Ideally, 2 years working in a public accounting firm, and at least 3 years in a high-growth startup environment, preferably in B2B SaaS.
• CPA certification preferred, but not required.
• Solid grasp of accounting principles and regulations, including knowledge of GAAP standards and reporting requirements, is desirable.
• Proficiency in utilizing financial software systems:
• General Ledger; Quickbooks, Netsuite, etc..
• Revenue / Cash Receipts; Stripe, Adyen, etc…
• Procurement; Bill.com, Ramp, etc..
• Payroll; Gusto, ADP, etc…
• Expense Reporting; Expensify, Tally, etc…
• Equity Administration; Carta
• Tax Compliance; Avalara, Track1099, 1099 Pro, etc..
• Proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of State and Local Tax Regulations is a big plus.

The targeted base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000. Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include equity or benefits.
