Founding Engineer (Full-stack with focus on Reactive Native)

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
We're looking for a founding engineer who can be part time, but devoted and in-deep with the rest of the team as we get Mayo in more people's hands. A lot of people are getting ready and eagerly waiting for the pandemic to be over. Most important of all, they are already looking for new ways to adopt to this new "social life", finding ways to get in touch with others face to face again, and moving beyond traditional social media as we know it. Mayo was not orignally built for post-pandemic life, but as life sometimes takes weird turns, we're now in a world where Mayo's ready to take the Prime time.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
You're experienced in building great products and services that's shipped on native mobile or mobile web. You should be self-driven, pragmatic, full of curiosity, love to learn, and can take charge and deal with ambiguity. Aptitude and hunger for problem solving, being low ego, and love working with people also greatly valued. You should also be someone who believes no task is too small for individuals at a startup. Be open-minded, take criticism humbly, but also provide feedback honestly if things could be improved or for the better.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand and move with the fast-moving business requirements & changes
• Develop high quality production code for mobile app or web and work on both front-end and back-end of the product
• Work is not done after you build and test your own code! Par-take in ownership of learning insights from the latest release with the rest of the team
• Enable great user experiences. We hold a really high-bar to it and it’s not just the designer’s job, it’s everyone’s job
• Take ownership and can work independently or in small teams
• Step up and take charge often. If something seems wrong or lacking, speak up and let the team know!

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES DESIRED

• Minimum 2 years of experience for developing mobile products (shipping products on the market, hackathon projects do not count)
• Experienced in writing and/or conducting QA tests
• Able to work and communicate positively and respectful with others
• Curious at heart, love experimenting
• Experience with Firebase, MongoDB, or similar backend services

BONUS

• You have worked closely with designers before
• Able to use Sketch/Photoshop to browse designs (don't worry you don't have to edit or do design at all, unless you want to)
