Red Fire Safety is a Fire Safety Services and Consultancy Firm that caters to a diverse range of clients and sectors in the UK. We currently have an employment opportunity available in our London office and are seeking skilled and proactive Fire Engineer to join our team.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for managing fire engineering projects, In London the home counties and sometimes further a field. The work will be technical in nature, comprising a mix of desktop activities, on-site activities, and interaction with clients.

The Role

We are looking for a Fire Alam and Systems Engineer to join our team. We encourage all candidates to apply for the role of Fire Alarm and Systems Engineer, as we strive to maintain a team that reflects the values we uphold.

As an Engineer with us, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional, customer-focused services in the Fire Protection Systems field, while embodying our values of openness, honesty, transparency, professionalism, dignity, and respect towards all clients and team members.

Main Responsibilities:

Conducting service, repair, and installations in accordance with the requirements of BS5839 and BS5266, while ensuring that the unique requirements and preferences of each client are taken into consideration.
Working with detailed commercial electrical design drawings and circuit diagrams, while being mindful of the different circumstances and backgrounds of our clients.
Testing and inspecting commercial and residential fire alarm installations to ensure compliance with current regulations, while providing sensitive and respectful support to all clients.
Efficiently and effectively working with various commercial and residential electrical installations and specialised equipment such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, blankets, and controls, while tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs of each client.
Completing test certificates and reports according to specifications, obtaining appropriate signatures, and preparing them for submission to the client, while ensuring that all clients are kept informed and involved throughout the process.
Conducting diagnostic fault finding on a wide range of installations and equipment, while being sensitive to the individual requirements and preferences of each client.
Assisting in planning works and scheduling appointments, when necessary, while accommodating the different availability and accessibility needs of our clients.
Identifying new business opportunities, while ensuring that our services are accessible and inclusive to all.
Travelling frequently to provide services for many our clients based mainly in London, the South and Southeast. We also have a few clients we provide further afield in East Anglia, while providing support and accommodation that is respectful of the unique circumstances and backgrounds of each client.
Promoting continuous improvement and delivering high-quality products and services that adhere to quality standards, while striving to achieve greater diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of our work.
Providing 24-hour on-call coverage on a rotational basis, while ensuring that all clients receive sensitive and respectful support that is tailored to their unique needs and preferences.
Demonstrating systems to customers, including the causes and consequences of false alarms, while ensuring all clients are given clear and accurate information that is appropriate and accessible to them.
Explaining the use of products or services to customers, while considering the different requirements and preferences of our clients.
Ordering replacement parts and providing quotes, while ensuring that all clients are provided with fair and equitable pricing and access to the resources, they need to maintain their systems.
Having the physical ability to climb ladders unaided and being reasonably fit, while ensuring that all clients receive support and accommodation that is sensitive to their individual circumstances and backgrounds.
Undertaking other duties as appropriate to the role and as requested by the line manager, while ensuring that all clients receive sensitive and respectful support that is tailored to their unique needs and preferences.

Essential Training / Education

Possession of NVQ 3 qualifications in electronic engineering, electrical trade a related field, or significant industry experience.
Completion of manufacturer-approved fire alarm commissioning training from reputable providers such as Advanced, Gent, Morely, Kentec, Ctec, EMS, Hyfire.
Current fire alarm qualifications, including successful completion of FIA modules/FESS Industry ECS Card/ FSTG training or equivalent certifications.

Desirable Training / Education

PASMA trained.
IPAF trained.
ASD trained - Vesda or equivalent
Suppression trained - Ansul or equivalent

Work Experience

A relevant background in electronic engineering, electrical trade, or an equivalent field.
Experience in the construction industry with on-site practical knowledge.
Proficiency in preparing and analysing reports.
Extensive hands-on experience in installing, repairing, servicing, and commissioning both analogue and addressable fire alarm systems.
Experience of managing work projects on site

Desirable Work Experience

Experience of servicing AOV’s, Access Control and Disabled Refuge Systems

Skills

Proficient and comprehensive understanding of BS5839 Part 1 & 6 and BS5266 regulations.
In-depth knowledge of a wide range of fire alarm systems, including attending manufacturers' training courses to stay updated.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal.
Capable of planning tasks efficiently and meeting deadlines.
Proficiency in utilising IT systems and devices effectively.
Good knowledge of Construction Health and Safety requirements.
Skilled in safely working at heights when required.

Desirable Skills

Computer aided design
Experience of working under BAFE accreditation.
Experience in Passive Fire Protection
