Our mission at Micrographia Bio is to deliver a new era of drug discovery using spatial proteomics.
We are adding an Engineer in Optical Microscopy into our multidisciplinary team. This role will be responsible for the design, assembly, maintenance, and validation of our optical imaging systems. The successful candidate will join a world-class team that is united by an intrinsic motivation to develop first-in class technology and new medicines. Responsibilities
- Design, build, and characterise of advanced light microscopy systems that drive our technology forward (e.g. optical design, hardware control)
- Collaboratively carry out the design, the acquisition and the analysis of large-scale microscopy experiments in the context of drug discovery
- Communicating theoretical, practical, and experimental knowledge to the company spanning several disciplines (software, AI, commercial)
- Working closely with our inter-disciplinary team to establish integrated fluorescence imaging strategies
- Proactively contributing to a positive, enthusiastic, collaborative engineering culture
Requirements
Must haves
- PhD in a relevant technical field (e.g. biophotonics, optics), or equivalent practical experience (advanced microscopy development)
- Experience in assembling / customising fluorescent microscopy imaging systems for specific experimental purposes
- Strong practical and theoretical understanding of optical engineering and fluorescence microscopy
- Ability to think critically and adapt in a fast-paced start-up environment
- Excellent technical communication skills
Should haves
- Experience in super-resolution microscopy, especially single-molecule imaging
- Software development experience - version control, unix, docker, cloud operations
- Knowledge and experience with Python programing language
- Basic knowledge of cell and molecular biology
- Post-doctoral or industry experience
- Experience in microfabrication
Nice to haves
- Previous start-up experience
- Experience in core light microscopy facility
- Experience in robotics / control theory
