We are Pluvo, an ambitious start-up on a mission to tackle deadly air pollution present in urban centres across the world. According to the World Health Organization air pollution is now responsible for an estimated 7 million premature deaths a year globally. At Pluvo we design and create innovative structures that monitor and actively clean the air around them, while paying for themselves through CSR brand sponsorship. We are passionate about public health and the environment. Our core mission is to improve the air people breathe on a daily basis and therefore their quality of life. Our core values as a team are innovative thinking, open communication, impact orientation, creative problem-solving and collaborative teamwork.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION PDF
Pluvo is looking for a flexible, action-oriented and self-starting individual to join the founding Pluvo team with a focus on product design, manufacturing and assembly in order to bring our first commercial Pluvo Column units to pollution hotspots across the UK! This is an opportunity to join the founding team and work with our external partners in order to deliver on our first orders in the short term, and in the long term to potentially assume a role as the company’s CTO.

The ideal candidate will have a strong skillset in manufacturing and design engineering, with experience in taking electromechanical products/machines from design to production and an interest in working closely with and managing external component suppliers, subcontractors and manufacturers. This role will have a broad scope of work initially, involving both hands-on assembly work in our workshop, along with desk-based design and supplier management work.

Key responsibilities over the next year will include:
• Assisting in optimizing and checking the Pluvo Column 2.0 product redesign, running FEA studies, creating and controlling component and assembly engineering drawings.
• Developing wiring diagrams and identifying the electrical components and wire runs required for unit functionality and ease of assembly.
• Selecting and sourcing components for the Pluvo Column 2.0 BOM. Vetting, managing and building relationships with manufacturing and component suppliers/subcontractors.
• Modifying Pluvo’s workshop space to accommodate the prototype Pluvo Column (for testing) as well as the assembly and testing of the first Pluvo Column 2.0 (prior to subcontracting).
• Leading in the in-house assembly, certification and testing of the first Pluvo Column 2.0 unit, prior to outsourcing the majority of the assembly/manufacturing for future runs.
• Working in Pluvo’s workshop to help quantify/measure the performance of the unit’s subsystems as well as analysing and optimizing the overall unit’s performance.
• Assisting in the selection and management of manufacturing subcontractors for the outsourced assembly of future Pluvo Column 2.0 batches.

Key responsibilities for the foreseeable future will include:
• Leading future Pluvo product redesigns and iterations (based on past learnings) to maximize net benefit, generating and updating engineering drawing revisions and BOMs as required.
• Managing our supply chain and quality control in order to streamline product manufacturing and delivery lead times while helping troubleshoot problems or bottlenecks as they arise.
• Managing, tracking and communicating progress on projects and deliverables both within the Pluvo team and with the required external partners (e.g. customers, subcontractors etc.).
• Reviewing relevant research as well as communicating with our R&D partners to generate design insights and new IP that will translate to future product improvements and offerings.
• Assisting in a technical sales capacity to help address customer enquiries, pain points etc.
• Feasibility assessment, design and assembly of prototypes/MVPs for potential future Pluvo products for testing and analysis.
• Growing and managing the product development team to match Pluvo’s needs
