Context
We are founding Orchid B, an amazing fintech company that will provide end-to-end back-office services to freelancers and small businesses. Its everything an entrepreneur has ever needed to help run a small business that only the biggest companies can afford; invoicing, bank accounts, cards, payroll, accounting, tax, business insurance, and statutory returns. One golden data source, one login, one unique UX/UI. We will save our customers thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours a year spent on admin. This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage start-up that is looking to launch the app in the USA first.

Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary technical co-founder to join the leadership team in forming and scaling the business. Our ideal candidate has the following transferable skills and experience:

• Mobile and web solutions with incredible UX/UI
• Data integrations of disparate operational systems
• B2C and/or B2B solutions, including ERP
• Industry experience such as Financial Services (Banking, Insurance) and/or Professional Services (Accounting, Tax, etc.)
• Consulting is a plus

What are back-office services?

• Back-office services are a pain for small businesses. Over 200 processes, provided by numerous and different providers, need handling every year, in separate systems, that don't talk to each other (bank accounts, cards, payments, accounting, payroll, tax, CRM, reconciliations, etc.).
• Financial and professional services are expensive: a small IT contracting business with 5 employees spends up to $ 25,000 a year in back-office fees. Including the billable time of the owner, that can mean $ 60,000 every year.
• Mitigating risks and issues is a mental roller-coaster. Responding to the changing regulatory, tax, and statutory obligations can become a full-time job and sometimes kill a viable business

Short Term Responsibilities

• Jump into a running bus and help boost the development of our initial product
• Achieve pilot success criteria with targeted user adoption
• Engage with the team in early-stage design, development, testing, validation, and refinement of the product to ensure product-market-fit

Longer Term Responsibilities

• Help build an awesome team, have fun, and instil a purpose driven culture
• Product and development planning
• Keep the pulse on the technical architecture and development, and related technologies
• Set up infrastructure, manage the deployment pipeline, and scale the platform with the necessary security and data privacy standards
• Develop and build a high-performance technology culture
• Lead a growing team of technical and product leaders
• Cross-functional communication

The deal
If you are looking for a standard annual salary model, this role is not for you. We are seeking leaders who are bold and have the appropriate risk appetite. Compensation is initially equity only and will include salary and competitive benefits once sufficient financing is raised. The equity upside has the potential to be far higher than the short-term compensation sacrifice.
