The Role

THE ROLE

We are hiring an Account Manager and Planner at REX to drive the overall strategic direction of positioning, marketing, communications, and creative campaigns for a handful of accounts.

During the initial strategy phase of new accounts, you will work beside the Agency Director and Sr. Strategist and with the Client’s Executive and Visionary Teams (founders, owners, and C-Suite) to define and document the business, brand, and marketing strategy. Your curiosity and expertise drive your research, penetrating insights, powerful strategy presentations, and rationale that contribute to a category-leading positioning strategy.

With the positioning strategy set, you’re responsible for developing the Account’s marketing requirements and integrated action plan that will achieve business, brand, and marketing objectives using your experience in multi-media marketing, creative campaigns, omni-channel tactics, and content strategy.

You will lead a values-aligned, engaged, and committed team of internal and external integrators and executors which requires you to be able to flip between ‘voice of the client’ and ‘voice of the client’s customer’ to ensure that execution is focussed strategically, within brand guidelines.

This is a hands-on role working closely with the leaders of growth-minded, impact-driven, values-aligned clients ranging from retail, consumer product, business services, technology, and global industry innovators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gain a comprehensive context for brand, marketing, and advertising strategies by analyzing a wide range of information in great detail, including demographics, socioeconomics, and the market for the client’s company, product/service, and market
  • Capture/develop the penetrating insights about your accounts (their business and/or their market) that will lead to differentiation or marketing success and create compelling, organized, and visually appealing insights presentations to share with clients and/or teams
  • Drive the overall strategic direction of marketing, communications, and creative campaigns
  • Drive progress through defining ultra-organized execution plans and managing team, requirements, and timelines through our project management tool, Wrike
  • Ensure that the execution and creative team's work is focused strategically and is within brand guidelines
  • Guide production planning activities ranging from developing and revising execution plans, production schedules, forecasting trends and customer demand, and managing logistics
  • Lead rebrands, defining the leading position of the company (sometimes a family of companies), products, and services to align with the company’s values, strengths, and vision
  • Lead marketing and e-commerce website redesigns and direct all online advertising efforts including paid search, SEO, blogs, and data feeds
  • Manage the client relationship to maintain a clear understanding of their business objectives and overall satisfaction with not only their account but the success or progression of their business; keep client confidence in you and the agency high
  • Manage and lead projects in such a way that keeps team engagement and morale high
  • Drive revenue for the company by finding ways to add more value to accounts and by participating in the needs assessment and proposal phase with new leads

RESPONSIBILITIES WE ALL SHARE

  • Systemizing and optimizing the way we work (systems, processes, finding new tools and creative methods) to get better results and have fun doing it
  • Contributing to each other’s growth and the overall culture of our team

DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES

  • Coordinate and co-lead discovery sessions with clients
  • Develop, manage and analyze research projects
  • Conduct/lead research (customer, industry, and market research) through our GWI research portal and desktop searches to inform strategies
  • Run qualitative research groups or calls with individuals; use a variety of market research data to monitor cultural and social trends and their impact on consumers’ attitudes, behaviors and perceptions
  • Provide the creative and digital marketing team with a clearly defined brief that contains concise information on the product, audience and strategy so that they can develop creative ideas applicable to the media channels that will promote the business, brand, product/service, and/or campaign idea most effectively
  • Lead team brainstorms (Sandbox Sessions) with structure, context, and clear objectives in order to nurture the creativity, alignment, and outputs of integrated execution teams
  • Set the communication strategy for advertising and marketing campaigns (messaging/copy skills required)
  • Create, monitor, and manage execution plans, critical paths, budgets, team accountabilities, and results of accounts and projects

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES

  • Creative and able to think around problems – people are amazed by your penetrating insights regularly
  • A rigorous and logical thinker – as soon as the idea is clear, you’re planning how you’ll make it happen
  • Strong presentation skills – visual decks, clear and to the point, and emotionally/empathetically aligned to the client, objective, and tone of the message you are delivering
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Good memory for facts, figures, and insights
  • Always meets deadlines

KEY SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in advertising, business, marketing, or a similar field
  • 5+ years of experience in the creative, ad, and marketing industry
  • May have worked a supervisory role
