As the streaming music market grows, the fan segment of music is predicted to be a $85B market by 2030. Gimme is the only service focused on these fans. And because Gimme focuses on the fan segment, it is complimentary, not competitive, to other digital music services.

The platform has attracted over 1,000 artists and tastemakers as hosts to Gimme’s online radio and video programming. Gimme has built multiple revenue channels to maximize monetization of these users (digital and physical subscriptions, virtual tipping, ecommerce, ticketing, data informed upsells). To date, it has communities in the metal and country genres. Gimme is trusted by major artists as well as industry leaders like SONY and Concord Music who are among Gimme’s investors.

Gimme builds highly engaged communities for the passionate fan on a genre by genre basis. The company has two communities: Gimme Metal and Gimme Country (www.gimmemetal.com www.gimmecountry.com) and available as an iOS and Android app). Fans tune in to hear world class DJs playing metal they can’t hear anywhere else and Gimme Radio allows the fans and the DJs/artists to communicate directly with one another in a live feed, real time, as the music is being played.

About the role
Gimme Radio is seeking an experienced technical team leader to serve as VP of Engineering. This lead role is expected to be a thought leader and a strong engineering executor to ramp up an engineering team. We expect this person to create a strong engineering culture within the team and the company. You move to the top of the list if you have worked in streaming music or are a huge music fan that wants to merge your passion into your work.

You will be a people and project manager that can also code: you are expected to do 50% of coding and 50% of people/project managing distributed and remote engineering resources. You should have quantifiable experience to manage aggressive roadmaps and have shipped world-class code in a timely manner while staying within budget.

What you will do:
-Manage all aspects of software engineering at Gimme Radio and set an engineering roadmap that accomplishes our company’s goals
-Partner closely with the Chief Product Officer to turn the roadmap into definable tasks, assign them to our resources, and manage the shipping of the products
-Determine the best languages, tools, and frameworks to build services and a scalable cloud architecture
-Be responsible for maintaining our production, staging, and test environments on AWS through configuration automation tools
-Ensure our services communicate with each other seamlessly, have minimal downtime, and recover quickly
-Have a service oriented mindset while driving excellence across the organization

Skills and experience you possess:
-Full Stack Development Skills: you have experience at mobile app development, web development, backend and infrastructure development. Major plus if you have expertise using React Native for mobile apps.
-10+ years of experience developing consumer software with an emphasis on mobile-first
Experience in streaming media, preferably in music, video and podcasting
-4+ years of technical and architectural leadership in software development and production engineering and experience in an infrastructure role using cloud technologies
-Strong technical anchor: Takes a thorough approach to technical design and execution of large technical projects. Brings clarity and structure to the technical and non-technical aspects of the project
-A good people manager: Able to mentor, coach, and develop mid level and senior engineers to do the best work of their lives. Works to forge the bonds of a strong team
Technical ability: Willingness to be hands-on at times and looked up to for technical abilities and experience
-A music fan is greatly preferred
