Job Description

The Whitecaps FC mission is To Unite and Inspire Our Communities. We are looking for a new team member to contribute to the Vancouver Whitecaps culture by understanding and supporting our four cornerstones: team spirit, discipline, work ethic and mentality.

The Manager, Information & Communication Technology will be responsible for the overall leadership and administration of Club-wide office technology platforms and operations, all within a pro sports environment. This includes day-to-day hardware and software issues management, as well as full oversight of club-wide technology and network related issues.

This role is well suited for a very organized, self-motivated team player with strong and timely problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate will be a very technical, hands-on person who is focused on providing excellent internal customer service.

Role Responsibilities

• Club-wide technology support, consultation, and troubleshooting, while always providing effective and timely technical assistance, including establishing and managing a ‘reasonable’ after-hours support network

• Responsible for club-wide information technology needs and requirements including network performance and security, remote work infrastructure and Club provided cellular phones.

• Ensure network and systems infrastructure are appropriate for current and future Club-wide needs

• Work with Human Resources to ensure new staff technology requirements are met, and maintain an inventory of Club owned technology devices as they are purchased, distributed, and returned/retired

• Keep the organization up to date with new technology, including network and data security, SaaS Services, and cloud-based storage solutions to enable efficient and cost-effective workflows

• Work with Legal, Business Intelligence and Marketing to ensure the Club technology environment complies with local, national and international Privacy Laws and Regulations

• Represent Club with MLS league office technology sub-group and manage Club alignment with MLS technology initiatives

• Occasional presence at the UBC training facility and other Lower Mainland club locations as needed

*Qualifications/Experience *

In addition to bringing a commitment to Vancouver Whitecaps FC vision and values, the ideal candidate will require a broad base of information technology knowledge with degrees of demonstrated experience as follows:

• PC and Apple hardware, operating systems, and software management and experience

• Administration of entire Microsoft 365 suite of products, including Email, SharePoint, and Teams

• Fortinet Networking and Security Fabric technologies (wired and wireless)

• IP networking skills in securing, installing, upgrading, and maintaining servers and associated systems

• Windows Active Directory and Azure Active Directory

• Microsoft Azure management, security, cost forecasting (VMs, Blob Storage, API Integration)

• Experience with Windows Server and Microsoft Hyper-V

• Centralized management of endpoint security products

• VoIP Phone systems (SaaS)

• Certifications such as A+, Networking+, or MCSA/MCSE would be an asset

• Desire to be an IT ‘subject matter expert’ and champion within the organization

• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external partners in a supportive and efficient manner.

• Demonstrated customer service orientation skills are required as is a keen attention to detail.

• Bending, lifting, and carrying objects up to 50 pounds

• Knowledge of, or prior experience working within sports (pro or amateur) is an asset
