Job Description
Fiskil is looking for Backend Engineers to build features, design and implement APIs, and improve the performance, security and reliability of our systems as we rapidly scale our product and organization. APIs and security are the core of our company, so being a backend developer you’ll be making some of the most significant decisions for the company.

We build our platform using cutting edge technologies as we prioritise speed and performance, such as: Golang, Rust and Infrastructure as code. We’re a genuinely collaborative team who is looking for engineers that understand that simplicity and reliability are aspects of a system to be carefully calculated with every decision made.

Fiskil is at the early stage of its growth in an Australian industry that is rapidly expanding and having a positive impact on consumers' lives. We think data should be owned by the consumer and the rails of Open Data should be accessible for any Australian business or innovative software developer that wants a piece of the pie. What you will be doing

• You will have a lead role in developing and maintaining our API architecture and security
• You'll brainstorm with Product Managers, Designers and Frontend Engineers to conceptualize and build new features for our growing user base
• You will be working within a fast paced environment where new features are consistently deployed and adapted to clients needs
• You will be improving and monitoring security threats to ensure our stack remains secure and compliant.

What you should have

• You have been building backend software for 3+ years
• You have a deep understanding of security best practices at an enterprise level. You also have a solid understanding of authentication protocols such as: OAuth2.0 and OIDC.
• You can lead technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions within the team.
• You have a strong experience with statically typed and compiled languages - preferably Golang … rust is also nice.
• You have previous experience in writing infrastructure as code - e.g. AWS CloudFormation, Terraform etc.
• You have a strong understanding of a serverless architecture and AWS related services such as: Lambda, Congito, S3, KMS etc.
• You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
• You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
