James MoherThe Role
Grit ‘N Wit is looking for a full-time Director of Sales, Marketing and Operations for our West Coast Division. Basically, a CEO on the West Coast, who can not only replicate what we’ve done on the East Coast, but can expand and improve upon it.
When high schools need a unique and fun way to engage students, they contact Grit ‘N Wit. When colleges and universities need a way to create a sense of community and camaraderie on campus, they contact Grit ‘N Wit. When companies need a health and wellness event for the mental well being of their employees, they contact Grit ‘N Wit.
As our name implies, we are looking for gritty and witty people. People who are able to create and execute on smart, unique solutions with limited resources. People who believe in themselves and are ready to take a role where they can bet on themselves.
Naval Ravikant said, “You want to get into a leveraged job where you control your time and you're tracked on outputs." This is that role.
We are looking for someone who is good at:
- Being a jack of all trades. In this role we are looking for someone who is in the top 10% of many things - Sales, Marketing, Logistics, Strategy - rather than the top 1% at any one thing. A growth mindset and a desire to continually improve in several areas.
- Being resilient, accountable, optimistic and comfortable with uncertainty. Start-ups are hard and unpredictable.
- Executing. Most problems have clear answers. The issue is execution. Here that is all you are measured on.
Extra awesome:
- Real world experience. While a lot can be learned in a classroom or in a book, a lot can’t. Those intangibles often make the difference.
- Runway. There are no get rich quick schemes and this isn’t one either. There is enormous upside, but it may take a while to ramp up. You will have to build this brick by brick. (That said, this has been done with significant success on the East Coast so it’s not a cold start).
- Existing connections. The more low hanging fruit there is, the easier it will be to start.
