Education Technical Product Manager

Chef Koochooloo is a gamified platform that teaches children math, nutrition, science, and global competency through healthy cooking. We are looking for a creative content product manager with a background in creating technology and content to scale learning and science, nutrition and language arts education. This position’s focus is to help make Chef Koochooloo a household name. This is a full-time position in Mountain View, California office, ideal for a former teacher or educator.

About the Role:

We need a technical product manager who also has a technical background. He or she is able to provide product vision, create a roadmap, and bring our next version of the product to life. The candidate should understand the company’s technology at a deep level and interact with the development team (an Agency we will hire) to lead the strategy for the product. He/She will be the glue between the business side and the technical side of our organization.

In this role, you own the life-cycle process of growth and continual improvement of education and product content. Your role exists in the intersection of product management, content and video creation, software engineering, product marketing, and service design. You will identify opportunities through metrics, outline requirements and user benefits, create and manage project plans, manage our software development agency, and deliver program improvements designed to delight our learners and move the needle for our business at large.

We are a grant-funded small team, composed of 3 full-time employees, 3 part-time employees, and 10 + remote volunteers and advisors. You will accomplish all of the above by working closely with our instructional design experts while managing the production and operations, product marketing and design You will be the voice, the vision, and the face of the product you manage, making sure that things are accomplished in a timely manner, successfully hit targets, and with all key stakeholders on-board.

Success in your role will be measured by your ability to impact high-level metrics (measured through revenue and timely delivery of the product.

Responsibilities

Understand intrinsic market demand and user needs, and ensure the needs are reflected in the design and development of the product.
Set product vision, road map, and identify product opportunities.
Ensure product success by developing robust market requirements and go-to-market strategies
Manage day to day operations, software development, establish clear business and technical requirements as well as test, iterate, and scale product globally
Take an active role in broad business and technical development initiatives to identify opportunistic product collaborations or contributions, this includes filling out accelerator applications, grants, and other investor-related files and documents
Drive consensus around product decisions using data-driven frameworks, methodologies, research, and analysis
Communicate regularly with stakeholders to receive feedback, align strategy, share progress, and set expectations
Bring about a culture of continuous optimization of workflow and processes across Chef Koohooloo, know when we should drive process standardization and when we can stay fast-and-loose
Teach and test our product in our pilot classrooms when needed, in order to ensure you truly understand and embrace the customer’s journey and pain points
Manage the content creation and organization (we have content managers that are working part-time that you would be managing and ensuring they get the content to you on time. However, since the content creators are mostly located remotely, you would need to ask them for the scripts for the creation of the culinary techniques and be able to film those in our Mountain View locations. Design the Architecture and Data Model for the software development phase
Server and infrastructure monitoring
Provide product training and technical expertise
Identify and present innovative product solutions
Work with development leads so that product requirements are understood
Must-Have Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Or evidence that you have a deep understanding of computer science)
Passion and interest in working around children aged 5-12
Passion for food and Cooking
Be able to work out of our Mountain View Office when needed (During Monday-Friday 9:00 am-6 pm), (You can be remote located, as long as you are willing to come on your expense and time to any meetings needed in person, or for filming the research or culinary technique videos)
Deep Understanding of Web Technology
Ability to monitor and analyze market trends
Work within a software development methodology like AGILE
Skills to explore new ways of improving existing services and products
Experience in coordinating product releases with marketing, sales, and development teams
Nice to Have Skills

Video and Audio-Visual Skills
Design (Photoshop, Invision, Photography, Photo Editing, Illustrator, Adobe XD, and Adobe Premier)
