Who We are

LVL is building the world’s first bitcoin bank, with the mission of expanding the adoption and use of bitcoin. There are plenty of bitcoin trading and investing apps, but they don’t make bitcoin useful in day-to-day life. LVL treats bitcoin like money, not an investment, and acts as a hybrid checking account for cash and bitcoin. With the LVL app, you can get paid in bitcoin, pay with bitcoin from the LVL Card, and earn bitcoin rewards. We are a small, passionate team looking to build a 100-year financial institution natively integrated with bitcoin

The Team You Will Join

The Engineering team follows agile methodology to build the world’s best banking app. Engineering works across Data, IT, Security, and Software to deliver amazing products and services to our customers. We believe that engineers should accelerate the business through technology and collaborate across multiple teams to accomplish that. As part of LVL’s Engineering team, you will work cross-functionally across the company, interfacing directly with vendors, triaging with support, and managing compliance risk - all while following agile processes. The engineering team is autonomous, eager to learn, teach and constantly improve how things work.

The Backend Engineer II will report to the CEO and will:

• Develop, deploy, and maintain LVL’s Backend, which is a Python-Django stack
• Work in a fast paced, product driven development environment
• Participate in an Agile development process with a small team
• Triage technical issues with support, develop solutions, help plan sprints, and follow through to completion
• Learn new technologies and seamlessly integrate them into LVL’s tech stack
• Manage database migrations in production environments
• Design robust backend technologies that serve REST API’s to LVL’s mobile app, provide services, and monitor health of LVL’s operations
• Build internal tools for day-to-day operations, marketing data and analytics, and site reliability. Optimized for automation.
• Learn and cultivate industry best practices for product and software design, agile methodology, and cross-functional collaboration

Required experience:

• Python, Django, Redis, and Celery
• REST APIs, Webhooks, and Services
• Git, Make
• Experience working in an agile development process preferred
• 2-3 years as a software engineer
• Experience with startups is a plus

Preferred experience but not required:

• AWS (EC2, RDS, Cloudwatch, Route53, S3, ELB, Lambda)
• Devops - NGINX, Gunicorn
• Information Security experience
• PostgreSQL
• Docker / Kubernetes / Terraform
