Job Description:
We're looking for an intern to build, engage, grow, and manage our global user community of d/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (HoH) people through relevant social media and online network outreach. You will also work with the founders to develop and boost our brand identity and awareness in this community, and consistently communicate the brand value to our community and users.
Who you are:
You are a people person with deep empathy. You have a strong interest in working with people with disabilities, and a desire to contribute to making society more inclusive for them through innovative technologies.
You also have interest and experience in participating in, and growing online communities using social media, content marketing, and online networking to attract new members.
Responsibilities:
- Extend & strengthen the existing network of early-evangelists, true believers and early adopters of the company's product
- Facilitate introductions and dialog amongst members, organize virtual meet-ups & webinars, seed conversations with content/news on assistive technology
- Keep the group updated on company/product developments
- Encourage trusted referral contacts and follow through
- Create an appropriate online community forum
- Establish a presence on relevant social media groups/channels/forums by contributing engaging & interesting content on a daily basis, and engaging with other contributors
- Establish relationships with influencers, bloggers and leaders from the community or who work with the d/Deaf & HoH community
- Ensure all communication and touch-points with the community are consistent with the company’s brand identity and values
- Stay abreast of new assistive technologies being introduced for d/Deaf-HoH
Knowledge/skills/experience:
Preferred knowledge, skills, and experience in these areas:
- Prior experience/work as a community manager/volunteer with people with disabilities
- Experience launching community initiatives (e.g. building an online forum, launching a student ambassador program, creating an event series, writing an email newsletter)
- Ability to identify and track relevant community metrics (e.g. repeat attendance at events), interpret website traffic and online customer engagement metrics
- Knowledge of online marketing and marketing channels
- Excellent verbal communication & writing skills
- Hands-on experience with social media management for brands
Location: Remote (prefer US/UK/India)
Start Date: Immediate/1-Jul-21
Compensation: Modest stipend after proving commitment and work quality
