The Role

540 is looking for a Software Engineer to help improve the efficiency of acquisition and procurement within the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). We are looking for a startup-minded individual to work on an Agile team focusing on a combination of legacy application management (VB/ASP.NET) and modern full stack development (Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript / Typescript, Angular, Azure).

On this project, you will be supporting the development and implementation of a wide variety of applications that facilitate the sharing of financial information for the FDIC. These include both legacy and modernized applications that use cutting-edge tech to gather and display information about banks, their branches and a multitude of financial records. With better standardization across these source systems and services, the public will have better insight into the health of the financial industry with data provided by FDIC.

Location: Remote friendly within the continental United States

Citizenship & Clearance Requirement: per client requirements, must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain an FDIC Public Trust clearance

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field (preferred)

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining large scale applications - AWS/Azure Cloud Platform
  • Experience developing Java / Spring Boot applications
  • Proven skill in successfully engaging with stakeholders and/or clients
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to explain technical tasks to functional members of the team

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • JavaScript / Typescript experience, Angular preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Solutions

    • Azure SQL, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, App Services, etc.
  • Experience maintaining legacy applications (.NET in particular)

  • Experience modernizing legacy application

  • RESTful API design and development

  • Experience writing unit and end-to-end tests

  • Familiarity with Git repositories

  • Experience working in an Agile environment
