  • Corporate travel startup TripActions Inc. is reportedly laying off hundreds of employees in the face of a slowdown in business related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • According to The Wall Street Journal, the layoffs represent roughly one-fifth to one-quarter of the startup’s employees.
  • The travel industry, like many others, is taking a hit due to the pandemic. TripActions is not the only travel-related startup that has announced layoffs as of late.
  • Hospitality startup Sonder had laid off or furloughed more than 400 people, or more than one-third of its staff.
  • Zeus Living, which provides furnished homes for business travelers (thus straddling the real estate and travel sectors), also slashed its staff by laying off about 80 people. That represents about 30 percent of the company.
  • Tel Aviv-based travel booking startup Bookaway Ltd. reportedly announced plans to its employees to lower salaries and lay off some staff, according to Calcalist.
