Overview:
At Tristero, we're building blockchain products with the goal of revolutionizing the way people interact with financial systems. As Head of Engineering, you will shape the engineering processes and organizational structure of our growing team. Your core goals here will include smoother execution, fostering organizational efficiency, and efficient, outcome-focused decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior roles at small startups with a proven track record of leading engineering teams through growth phases. Familiarity with the crypto space is a significant advantage, but not necessary for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Process Improvement: Introduce and optimize engineering processes, including code review workflows, release management, and project management methodologies.
- Organizational Structure: Collaborate with senior management to define and implement efficient organizational structure.
- Outcome-Focused Culture: Cultivate a culture of outcome-focused decision making, guiding teams to prioritize results over dogma and embrace iterative experimentation and continuous improvement.
- Technical Decision Making: Drive technical decision-making processes by facilitating discussions, evaluating trade-offs, and ensuring alignment with business goals and product roadmap.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering team members, fostering their professional growth and development while maintaining a high standard of technical excellence.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster a collaborative and communicative environment within the engineering team and cross-functional teams, ensuring effective knowledge sharing and alignment of goals and priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. Equivalent experience is acceptable as well.
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering roles, with a proven track record of leadership and technical expertise.
- Experience in senior roles at small startups, particularly during growth phases and organizational scaling.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence decision making.
- Passion for blockchain technology (Crypto native experience is a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement initiatives and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
