OUR CORE PURPOSE

Jigsaw XYZ was established in 2016 and is now a team of 50 strategists, engineers and creatives with offices in London and New York.

We are building technology solutions to help individuals and small businesses get access to the products and services they need, on their terms. We believe that there is a fairer way to manufacture financial products, around the needs of the customer, and this needs to be digitally enabled. Our mission is to help people access, and banks offer, fairer financial products.

WHAT WE DO

We build technology products that bring our core vision to life, working with partners across the globe. Our core product, Spoke, is a marketplace exchange utility, that intends to connect demand (individuals and small businesses needs) with supply (marketplace of financial and non-financial products), and allow for dynamic tailoring of supply.

Our team is split into those designing and developing our core products, and those defining and delivering specific propositions for partners across US, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Node.JS to write our backend application code
React Native for our user interfaces
Kinesis & Kafka for our data streams
Python for data analysis
Postgres/Aurora for our structured persistent data storage
Spark, Presto & Redshift for our Analytical workloads
Lambda for our serverless computing
GitLab CI to automate our development and deployment
Kubernetes, Docker, Helm & Istio to operate our platform service runtime environment
We are a certified AWS Technology Partner and use for most of our infrastructure

REQUIREMENTS

THE ENGINEERING LEAD ROLE

The team focuses primarily on rapid development. Current we have around 40 engineers in London, leading on the development of our core products, and delivering propositions for our global clients and partners. The team in the United States is focused more on rapid prototyping for business development purposes.

As an Engineering Lead you will be responsible for the architecture and implementation of client propositions and components on top of our core products. Working alongside the existing Engineering Team Leads, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our engineering standards and overseeing an agile, multi-disciplined engineering team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Engineer at heart … someone who is an experienced engineer first and foremost, we are less concerned about specific tech stacks, but someone who fosters effective collaboration in multi-disciplinary teams. Most important is someone with a track record of demonstrating how to apply engineering discipline to solving problems or unlocking opportunities quickly.

Experience forming and growing teams … someone who has experience growing, attracting, organizing, managing and motivating fellow engineers. Is able to work with the existing Leads to grow our team with fresh talent and ideas, and well-functioning to be able to deliver multiple products and propositions concurrently.

Product based experience … ideally you will have experience in product development and delivery, having worn some of the many hats required to take technology from proof-of-concept to enterprise-grade.

Ownership … we empower our staff to take decisions and ultimately learn from them, both good and bad. We would expect a senior engineer to be accountable, be effective at delegation, and work to ensure risks are mitigated and ensure a low reversibility.

Community … we would expect our senior engineers to represent Jigsaw XYZ at various speaking events and proactively take part in user groups and meetups in the London area, also taking an active interest in contributions to the opensource community.
