Opportunity

We’re looking for a scrappy, independent, and data-driven Digital Marketing Manager who's excited to scale growth and user engagement at a small, ambitious startup figuring out product-market fit.

What You’ll Do

As Digital Marketing Manager, the core of your role is to contribute to Commons’ user growth and engagement metrics. This role will be focused on conversion optimization for web, email, and SMS channels as well as lifecycle marketing (LCM) efforts, primarily via email and push. You’ll work closely with the Head of Marketing and the rest of the marketing team, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design.

  • Conversion optimization. Optimize our core growth channels (web, email, SMS) for app downloads and engagement.

  • Experimentation and optimization. Using a data-driven and fail-fast growth methodology, develop hypotheses and experiments across our campaigns to drive constant learning and iterative optimization.

  • Analysis and reporting. In partnership with our data team, develop robust analytics and insights to track campaign performance and goal attainment, and drive content, audience, and channel insights to improve our lifecycle strategy and execution.

  • Cross-functional collaboration. Work closely with Product and Marketing to surface channel insights and make recommendations to improve our customer acquisition funnel.

  • Content and personalization. Write conversion-oriented marketing copy – including subject lines, push messages, and short form email body copy – and partner closely with Marketing and Design to leverage engaging editorial and visual content across triggered, batch & blast, and personalized messages.

  • Lifecycle marketing. Own a multi-channel LCMstrategy, built on a deep foundation of user insights and personalization, to help the Commons community develop sustainability practices and reduce our collective carbon footprint.

  • Campaigns and journeys. Building on your LCM strategy, execute on rich multi-channel and multi-touch campaigns across email, push, and in-app messages that activate, retain, and monetize our user base across key lifecycle stages.

  • Segmentation and platform data. You’ll be responsible for audience segmentation and targeting logic, and collaborate with our Engineering team to implement inbound data and platform requirements to support campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Extensive general marketing experience in digital and/or lifecycle marketing with a consumer-facing brand. Hands-on experience owning a marketing channel and ability to prove mastery over at least one of the key growth channels: web, email, SMS.

  • Mobile- first B2C lifecycle marketer. You know how to build and execute multi-channel B2C lifecycle campaigns that engage mobile app users and drive business results, and aren’t shy around concepts like audience segmentation, journey canvases, and content personalization.

  • Deep platform knowledge. You have deep expertise in several key digital marketing platforms, including Google Analytics, Klaviyo/Mailchimp, Iterable, Zapier, Attentive/Twilio, and are willing and quick to learn new technologies.

  • You write killer conversion copy. You can roll up your sleeves and write a popping subject line or push notification using language that’s fun, engaging, and audience specific.

  • Data is your BFF. Turning data into actionable insights is at the center of your process.

  • A track record building engaging consumer digital experiences is a plus, but not a requirement.

  • Deeply curious and self-motivated. You are a self-starter who thrives owning projects start to finish and operating in a fast-paced startup environment. You’re deeply curious about our user wants and needs and always looking for the best solution to a problem and the most efficient path forward.

  • Clear, collaborative communicator. You’re always willing to hop on a call or Slack huddle to hash out a tricky problem with a team member. You thrive in environments with open and honest communication.

  • Passionate about solving the climate crisis. You’re passionate about scaling solutions that empower people to address the climate crisis.
