About Urban Sky:
Urban Sky is a venture-backed aerospace startup redefining the way we analyze Earth from the stratosphere. We design, build, operate, and sell stratospheric balloon systems. The data we collect supports a range of applications, from real-time wildfire monitoring to urban mapping.
We are writing the next chapter of stratospheric history in Denver and are seeking self-starting, open-minded, and hard-working team members.
Role Description:
Our flight operations are expanding pushing us to manufacture more flight systems than ever before. As a Hardware Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of of all test equipment used to validate newly assembled avionics and payload systems. It is absolutely crucial that every system is extremely reliable making this one of the most important roles for the future success of Urban Sky.
This position is onsite at our Denver, CO HQ.
Key Functions:
- Design and build test equipment used for production flight systems such as
- Functional test fixtures
- Test stations
- Assembly jigs
- Development and implementation of detailed testing procedures.
- This includes defining test parameters, creating test plans, and documenting test results.
- Document failure modes and use data to continually improve reliability
- Drive root cause of PCBA production yield issues and prevent factory escapes of defective hardware
- Partner with hardware design team to improve yield, processes, test coverage, quality, and reliability
Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in electronics testing or similar industry
- Proficiency one or more high-level, general-purpose programming languages i.e. Python
- Familiarity with C or C++ for embedded systems
- Familiarity with Git version control
- Experience debugging electrical hardware, i.e. reading electrical schematics and using electrical test equipment to inspect the system
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD software for fixture review and collaboration
Nice-to-Haves:
- Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science (or similar).
- Experience with Google's OpenHTF
- Familiarity with remote comm systems like the Iridium satellite network
- Early-stage startup experience
- Ability to manage several tasks at once
Benefits:
Salary $90,000 - $135,000 per year
We are required to post this salary range per Colorado law. Your salary will be determined based on your abilities and experience.
