Jr Cloud DevOps Engineer (Remote)

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Development and Maintenance:

1. Assist in the setup and maintenance of cloud infrastructure using platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
2. Help in developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

Automation and Optimization:

1. Contribute to the automation of deployment processes, aiming to reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.
2. Assist in the optimization of system performance and resource utilization.
3. Assist in developing automation scripts and tools to streamline system installation, configuration, and maintenance processes.

Continuous Integration and Deployment:

1. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
2. Support development teams in integrating their solutions into the automated pipeline.

Collaboration and Support:

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the seamless integration of applications and services.
2. Provide technical support to development teams, helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Monitoring and Incident Response:

1. Assist in implementing monitoring solutions to ensure system health and to identify issues proactively.
2. Participate in the incident response process, helping to restore services in case of outages and learning to manage system recoveries.
3. Help in setting up monitoring systems using tools like NewRelic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk to ensure system stability and performance.
4. Participate in developing alerting mechanisms to notify teams of potential issues proactively.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

1. Document procedures, configurations, and specifications, ensuring that knowledge is effectively shared across the team.
2. Contribute to the maintenance of a knowledge base to facilitate continuous learning and team development.
3. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and develop solutions accordingly.
4. Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance team skills and expertise.
5. Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including system designs, configurations, and procedures.
6. Support compliance initiatives by adhering to established IT policies and guidelines.

Professional Development:

1. Continuously learn and keep up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in the cloud and DevOps space.
2. Take part in internal and external training to develop the necessary skills and knowledge for career growth.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Certification Requirements:
3. Certification in at least one cloud platform such as AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate), Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate), or Google Cloud (e.g., Associate Cloud Engineer).
4. Additional certifications in DevOps or SRE practices (e.g., Docker Certified Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are highly desirable.

Experience:

1. 2-3 years of experience in a similar role or recent graduates with relevant internship experience.
2. Skills:
3. Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
4. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
5. Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
6. Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Travis CI.

1. A keen interest in cloud technologies and a willingness to learn.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
4. A proactive approach to identifying issues and suggesting improvements.

All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories. Some federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment.

As the US Government is our clientele, you may be required to obtain a public trust or security clearance.
