Internal Control & Audit lead

We are looking to hire an Internal Control and Audit lead to set up proper control processes within our growing business. You will be responsible for all conttol and audit functions of our growing business.

In this role you will perform advanced level assessment of internal controls, advise on the adequacy of controls designed and drive the development of systems/work processes aimed at controls improvement and statutory compliance. You will also be responsible for managing the internal controls and enterprise risk management for the company, as well as reporting on the adequacy of internal controls.

What you will do

• Implement internal control programs to ascertain and report on the degree of compliance with company-approved policies and operating procedures, laws, regulations and code of good business practices.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly internal control activity reports.
• Report significant risk exposures and control issues, including fraud risks, governance issues, and other matters as needed.
• Perform prepayment audits.
• Follows up on the implementation of the audit/control recommendations and ensures that improvements are made to reduce risks.
• Overall responsibility for maintaining the Internal Controls Framework
• Deliver adequate and timely action plans and monitor progress to address and resolve control deficiencies. -Work collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts that result from internal control assessments, ensuring the effective implementation of corrective action.
• Ensure the integrity of the general ledger through reconciliations and review of the fixed assets register.
• Ensure prompt resolution of all open issues in the Internal Audit Report, Management letter, Regulatory Examiners Report, and other Statutory Examiners Report involving departments under your purview.
• Carry out detailed investigations when discrepancy or fraud is noticed.
• Identify areas of financial and administrative strengths and weaknesses and develop best practices.

Requirements

• Atleast 4 years' experience in Internal Control and Audit
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
• Ability to lead a team and take ownership of the role
• Familiarity with Internal Control and Audit within financial services
• Demonstrate ability to manage tasks and make process improvements
• Ability to prioritize and be highly organized
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• Keen attention to Detail
• ACCA or ICAN Qualification
• Msc Finance, Accounting or MBA is an added advantage
