Android Engineer

Role Description:
We’re looking for a Lead Android Engineer responsible for the development and maintenance of the Android version of Leap. Your primary focus will be development of Leap’s Android app and the integration with its back-end services. You will be working alongside an Android and Backend developer working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and build new features of the Leap app for the Android platform
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Collaborate with a team to define, design, and ship new features
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science
• 6+ years working experience in software development and Android app development
• Have published one or more Android apps in the Play store
• Proficient and deep experience with Kotlin and Android Studio
• Extensive experience developing end-to-end Android mobile apps, including design, development, and deployment to app marketplaces
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards
• Understanding of Google’s design principles and interface guidelines
• Experience with performance and memory tuning with tools
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• Experience in benchmarking and optimization
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools
• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
• Experience managing QA and product testing
• Start date is flexible
