*Etalon *is an early-stage startup based in Menlo Park that has built a genetic diagnostic platform that provides comprehensive panels of commercially available genetic diagnostics, in addition to many new genetic markers and diagnostics for horses, making Etalon unique in the market and highly desirable in the equine community.

While the genetic testing panels are, alone, very cutting edge, Etalon is also focused on using horse and owner data, disciplines and show information to bridge equine communities, and scientifically match breeders to build or find their ideal horse, stallion, mare, foal, etc..

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer who wants to challenge and push the boundaries of technology and science.

You will define, design and develop compelling new features, and contribute innovative solutions to challenging engineering problems to make those features real and performant at scale.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with product, design and the development team on the strategic vision for our product roadmap
• Drive technical excellence leading code and design reviews
• Deliver secure, high-quality and testable code on time
• Break down functional and technical requirements into clean architectures and designs
• Evolve and improve existing backend systems to support our ambitious product roadmap
• Mentor other engineers and become an important part of the tapestry of our engineering culture
• Design and build the “Build a Horse”, a marketplace platform that enables people who want a horse to source horse breeders for specific horse traits which have been genetically screened.

Preferred Experience

• 7 or more years working on enterprise big data, AI/ ML environments software platforms
  
• Deep working knowledge of C#, JavaScript, React with TypeScript, as well as other common programming languages
• Deep working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server as well as NoSQL such as Big Table, DynamoDB and Redshift
• Working knowledge of AWS, Google Cloud, Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience leading project development from planning phase to delivery
• Experience building application products
• Experience mentoring other engineers
• Comfortable working in a highly collaborative small team environment
• BS in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 7 years’ industry experience
• Knowledge of bioinformatics, animal genetics, complex rules & algorithms is a bonus
