Data Integration Engineer

About the role:

Within the Apixio customer operations organization the Senior Data Integration Engineer is primarily responsible for the acquisition, mapping, and loading of customer data into the Apixio ETL pipeline. In addition, the Senior Data Integration Engineer is responsible for reporting on project data status, developing reporting and mapping tools, and generating reports to support customer engagements. Apixio’s Senior Data Integration Engineer is a hybrid technology and consulting resource that has strong problem solving, communication, and project management skills.

Who you are:

• Manage all data aspects of a customer engagement from initial contact and data receipt to mapping and loading data into the Apixio data pipeline.
• For the assigned EHR, Research the provider workflows, Integration APIs, Data elements and attributes available through standards based (HL7 V2, FHIR) or EHR proprietary APIs or custom formats and work alongside a customer success manager to engage and inform the customer on their data obligations.
• Conduct working sessions with customer clinical informaticists to understand and document the customer-side EHR workflow that result in the data we receive.
• Compare, Assess and Identify API and Data integrations gaps against the Apixio’s EHR integration guidebook.
• Perform necessary data validation, mapping and transformation to meet Apixio’s data requirements.
• Work closely with the engineering team to troubleshoot issues with API’s and data exchanges between multiple systems.

What Knowledge, Skills & Abilities you bring to the table::

• 5+ years Hands-on technical experience with at least 2 or more EHR systems (EPIC, Allscripts, Athena, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Cerner, Greenway, Meditech).
• 5+ years Hands-on development experience working with Interface engines like Mirth, Qvera, Rhapsody, etc. Certifications are a plus.
• Strong programming experience in Javascript, Python, MySQL (or any RDBMS) and shell script.
• Past experience in healthcare data extraction, transformation and normalization.
• Experience with various healthcare data standards such as HL7 FHIR, CCDA, HL7v2, X12 EDI and query based data extraction from EHR systems.
• Strong technical acumen to research, troubleshoot, document and design bi-directional integration capabilities.
• Strong communication skills to relay complex data integration requirements to team members and customers.
• Work on your own when needed, apply critical thinking and problem solving to achieve a positive outcome.

After 3 months you will have accomplished: ****

• Develop a very good understanding of Apixio’s products and existing DI tools and processes.
• Participate in at least one Customer Implementation.
• Develop good working relationships with fellow DI team members, CSMs and Data platform team.
• Collaborate on implementing best practices for adopting Interface Engine.

After 1 year you will have accomplished: ****

• Identify challenges and start improving current DI tools and methodologies.
• Serve as a SME in enabling Integration with Apixio’s customers and other third parties to achieve Apixio’s interoperability goals.
• Lead consulting and data discovery discussions with customers to implement bidirectional interoperability.
• Successfully complete DI tasks for multiple customers.
