The Role

Summary

Limber is a mission driven health technology startup building the future of assistive mobility, backed by Serena Williams. We’re looking for a Physical Therapist to shape the development of our smart devices and engage people with mobility impairments in their design. This is a per diem or part-time role based in the Bay Area (US), which could lead to a full-time position.

About us

Limber is transforming the lives of 40 million Americans who have difficulty walking. We are creating the next generation of assistive mobility devices (smart canes, crutches and walkers). Our devices have sensors embedded inside that monitor their user’s movement and gait. Our analytics enable remote monitoring, coaching, and data-driven physical therapy. We are a team of smart, collaborative, highly motivated people who share a drive to use technology to improve lives.

About the role

We are looking for a Physical Therapist with an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for technology and an interest in research. You will be encouraged to share your ideas, expand your horizons, and contribute directly to the company’s vision through our culture of technical collaboration. Limber is a technology- and data-driven business, so your work providing clinical advice and collecting data is critical to the success of our products. Joining our small and fast-growing company will give you the opportunity to shape the future of product development at Limber.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical expertise to shape product development
  • Identifying opportunities to optimize the smart functionality of our smart assistive mobility devices
  • Collaborating with the data science team to ensure the clinical efficacy of our products
  • Collecting data from people with impaired mobility to train machine learning algorithms
  • Assisting people to walk with our smart devices and carry out a range of prescribed activities
  • Ensuring our data collection volunteers have a safe and enjoyable experience
  • Visiting our data collection sites and engaging data collection volunteers
  • Ensuring the quality of data collected meets high standards

About you

  • DPT degree in Physical Therapy
  • Licensed in the state of California
  • Organized, detail-oriented and efficient in time management
  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive to data collection sites
  • Able to learn and effectively use a variety of clinical and non-clinical software applications
  • Experience designing and conducting independent and/or collaborative research preferred
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced start-up environment where change and multitasking are routine
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds

Additional requirements

  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working independently and taking ownership of projects
  • Familiarity with conducting research and/or working in a research environment
  • Passion for using technology to improve the lives of people with impaired mobility

What we offer

  • Flexible hours
  • Equity incentive options for early employees

What we value

  • Trust and reliability
  • Curiosity and creativity
  • Transparency and integrity
  • Collaboration not competition
  • Diversity of experience and diversity of thought
