The Role:
This mid-level position requires a solid ability to evaluate website content across all brands paying close attention to content brevity, currency, relevance, compliance with brand guidelines, web design, and proper use of images, graphics, and video assets. As the Web Content Strategist, you will lead website initiatives to drive growth, optimize customer journeys, and manage the content across all brand websites. You will be the go-to authority on website best practices, UX, and SEO. Of course, our incredible, veteran creative, content, and paid media team will support you. The perfect candidate combines creativity to develop fresh, compelling website content strategies with analytical skills to effectively measure strategy efficacy, read data and optimize content for SEO efforts.
What We Are Looking For:
We’re seeking a freelance content strategist with at least five years of experience to support our in-house team. This role is part strategist, analyst, writer, and editor. Its scope of responsibilities pertains to website projects, though it could apply to various digital initiatives. The position will collaborate with the in-house content strategy, digital, and account teams and report to the Content Strategy Director.
Core Responsibilities:
- Audit websites against client-stated objectives and user data to determine site content needs
- Mine site analytics and user surveys and conduct competitive analyses to ID strategic opportunities
- Develop strategies to deliver practical, usable digital content based on best practices, audit findings/analytics, and client marketing objectives
- Lead development of website architectures, content templates, and search engine optimization strategies
- Create digital style guides
- Conduct user testing to determine that content is tailored to the needs of audiences and in plain language
- Develop user journeys, personas, and lo-fidelity wireframes to clarify content goals
- Create and document taxonomies to categorize the content
- Conduct Search Engine Optimization audits, reviews, and content updates
- Can, if needed, also write/edit SEO-friendly site copy based on a detailed content strategy
Our Ideal Candidate:
- 5+ years of experience planning for and working with digital content
- At least five years of experience planning for and working with digital content
- Understanding of content strategy principles and practices
- Familiarity with keyword research and SEO best practices
- Experience working in CMS
- Update, maintain, and archive web content
- Sharp attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience with analytics tools and reporting in Google Analytics, Microsoft Excel, or Google Sheets
- Strong communication, oral, and written skills, necessary to present data and reports clearly to internal teams and present effectively to clients
- Adaptable to shifting timelines, changing scopes of work, and occasional high-pressure situations over the lifetime of client campaigns and annual sales seasons
- Self-motivated to learn quickly and without constant direction; able to find answers to common problems while working independently
- Extremely organized, systematic, and able to identify and address issues
- Punctual can meet deadlines promptly
