Senior DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who's passionate about automation & security and has experience with scale to join our Engineering team. Our mandate is to enable Octi's Infrastructure to be highly resilient and fault tolerant, while maintaining our high SLA uptime expectations. Our work ranges from spinning up new services, scaling, working closely with the back-end team on managing deployments, maintaining our observability infrastructure to helping with our deploy and rollback infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years of experience working with Linux systems
• 8+ years of experience with network fundamentals (including load balancers, switches, routers, etc.)
• Ability to design, implement, maintain and deploy components that solve problems in a complex ecosystem
• 8+ years coding experience
• Strong written & verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively to both technical & non-technical individuals
• Professional experience working on and with CI/CD
• Experience working with AWS or an equivalent cloud service provider
• Define, implement and maintain environments required for development, testing and production
• Experience with Infrastructure As Code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Chef)
• Experience with logging, monitoring and alerting systems and tools
• Good understanding of information security best practices
• Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technology
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and firewall
• Experience with monitoring and log aggregating frameworks such as ElastiSearch, Kibana, Kafka
• Collaborate with the architecture team on ensuring technical roadmaps are technically sound and forward-looking
• Scripting/programming in Shell or another programming language
• Knowledge on Security Scanner
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Reliable, Team-oriented, Quick Learner with a drive to produce results
• Up-to-date on the latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
• Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity, and multi region support is a plus
