The Coding School is seeking a Strategy & Innovation (S&I) Lead. The S&I Lead will be responsible for the growth and strategy of TCS, helping TCS become a recognized leader in STEM education. Responsibilities include developing strategic partnerships with companies, universities, government agencies, school districts, and other organizations; spearheading educational initiatives in emerging technologies; and identifying new opportunities and growth areas, including international expansion. The Strategy & Innovation Lead will work directly with the CEO and Program Director.
2022 is expected to be a year of significant growth for TCS with anticipations to double the staff and budget; develop $1+ million programs that will reach up to 10,000 students at one time; launch our first physical training center; and collaborate on publications and projects with leading tech companies, universities, and organizations. As the Strategy & Innovation Lead, you will have a central role in the strategic development of a dynamic, growing nonprofit. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Develop strategy and growth plan to position TCS as a global STEM education leader;
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with companies, universities, government agencies, school districts and others;
- Create pitch decks, reports, and other communication/marketing materials and work across TCS teams to ensure effective communication of TCS vision to external partners;
- Assist with management of Board of Directors and advisory boards/committees;
- Devise and execute plan to increase awareness of TCS, such as hiring and managing relationship with a PR firm;
- Oversee the organization’s development plan, including fundraising efforts;
- Identify potential areas of growth through research and develop new projects/initiatives to drive the organization forward;
- Manage special projects, such as the development of TCS first physical education & training center;
- Ensure the CEO’s high-level plans and goals are optimized and percolating throughout the organization; create and strategize efficiencies in the team’s core operations and build out internal team processes as the organization grows; and establish OKRs (objectives and key results) with team leads to ensure quality control as initiatives scale;
Required skills / experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field - MBA preferred;
- 4-7+ years of consulting, strategy, or business development experience with work experience in education preferred;
- Entrepreneurial, innovative, and creative mindset with a willingness to take calculated risks and a view that no problem is too big to tackle;
- Experience working within a start-up or a high-growth organization;
- Strong presentation development expertise - including, but not limited to, an eye for design and understanding how to communicate visually;
- Self-directed, results-oriented individual who can independently handle multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment;
- Proven stakeholder management skills;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to balance a wide range of near term, tactical priorities with longer term, strategic needs;
- Ability to travel as required.
