About the Role:

We are looking for a Director of Marketing to help ensure our customers and partners understand how important cyber insurance is to every business’s cyber risk strategy. DataStream’s approach of integrating cyber insurance and technology should make us their go-to resource for acquiring cyber security insurance.

This role is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to impact the growth of a company. We have product-market fit, funding, and the core foundation of a multi-channel growth marketing program. As the first internal marketing hire, you will have the chance to plan and build a full marketing program from our initial foundation.

What you will do:

The Director of Marketing will help us refine and manage our go-to-market strategy. This role reports directly to the CEO and will be an individual contributor and lead our internal team and outside agencies and freelancers.

In this role, you and our marketing team will be responsible for generating demand and leads for insurance products among our target audience of US Small to Medium Sized Businesses. You will also work closely with our channel sales team to generate referral leads from our network of Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Cyber Product firm’s referral partners (collectively known as “The Channel”).

You will collaborate closely with the Sales and Product teams to build content and tools to engage customers and partners. Our key differentiator is that we integrate cyber insurance into SMB’s existing technology and cyber security programs. This person will be an expert on the Channel and understand how to leverage them to drive SMB leads and sales. The objectives and key results will be around growing traffic and engagement for the website, social media, and events, collaborating with our channel sales team to drive SMB leads, and our Insurance Sales team to drive conversion rates.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and drive go-to-market strategy and product launches for the organization and ensure the product is competitive, complete, clean, and timely
  • Drive product adoption and advocate for improvements and new offerings
  • Create and maintain an annual marketing budget
  • Manage, hire, and onboard external relationships with outside marketing, PR, freelancers, and podcast production agencies to build multi-channel growth marketing efforts
  • Create and build a metrics-based high performing marketing program to reach target KPI’s through steady growth of the web and social media, high SEO and SEM rankings, and lead generation of SMB customers and MSP partners
  • Represent the voice of the SMB customer and MSP partner by understanding user segmentation, personas, and customer journey
  • Create and articulate compelling product positioning, messaging, and narratives that represent
  • DataStream’s value in a way that resonates with the market
  • Own corporate and product storytelling across external channels such as website, email, video, PR, etc.
  • Partner closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to position DataStream as a thought leader within the tech and cyber security community
  • Measure the effectiveness of the marketing department and create and implement improvements
  • Assist Product Management in conducting and analyzing market research to determine the risk and marketability of potential products and product features

About You:

6+ years of relevant combined experience in marketing.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Design (but also marketing applications), Social Media, or applicable fields
Experience with cyber security, artificial intelligence, or insurance is not required but would be looked upon favorably
Well-rounded expertise in all aspects of marketing and sales methodology to both vertical and consumer customers—preferably in the Cyber Security space
